Thanks for the quick reply.

Just want to confirm my next steps.

1. boot into RCM and install all drivers and what not.
2. Run TegraRcmSmash and select rajnx_ipl.bin
3. Once RajNX is loaded select only 1.0.0 profile

Couple of questions
Move the ChoidujourNX.nro into my switch folder before or after RajNX has been loaded or is it included in RajNX?
Which firmware did you upgrade to?

Thanks again.

It's seperate and not part of RajNX (get it from his website), get it in place before you do anything. I upgraded to the latest, you'll need the FW on the sdcard too.

Also the first thing I did was boot hekate and backup the current nand like the others have said.

@ninjacat your primary step is to make a full nand backup before anything else.
Will do. Thanks.
You gotta put the ChoiDujourNX.nro in your microsd:/switch folder yourself, or it wont be there to launch in hbmenu
If you only want to play mayron, you should update to 3.0.x, 3.0.2 is the last firmware where there's no fear of updating the gc controller.
Got it. Thanks!

Yup got those files ready. Just have to look for the FW now.

thanks everybody.

I am currently backing up my NAND. It is taking a long time.
I just realized that I might have to format my sdcard to exfat from fat32 (the game I am interested in is 5.5gbs) after the NAND Backup then do AutoRCM.
Since 1.0.0 did not support it until 4.1.0 came out ( I think?). I am going to use ChoiduJourNX to update to 4.1.0.

Thanks everybody!

Support what ? exFAT is supported since 2.0.0, if you have the exFAT version of the firmware. Do not update past 3.0.2 for gamecart controller reasons.

I was thinking about playing Tennis Ace as well but if it messes with the gamecart controller, I will stick to 3.0.2.

As an eshop game ? Because you can use 4.0.0+ in that case, you just have to be careful to PreventGCUpdate each time, and then cartridges won't work.

Yes as an eshop game. But its fine. I can stick to 3.0.2 and play Odyssey first. And maybe go up for tennis ace later on.

Just waiting for this NAND backup to finish.

Any advantages to switching between firmwares? Does the gamecard slot not work on the newer firmware?[/QUO

The gamecard slot does not work when running 5.1. I guess that means that the no gc is working. I switch firmwares to play nsp games that require a new firmware but switch back to 3.0 to play xci games and remove auto rcm so I don't have to worry about my battery dying if I take my switch on a trip.

Current version: RajNX 0.7.2 (released on 05.08.2018)
Download link: Get it from https://switchtools.sshnuke.net (as usual) !

INSTALLATION
Extract the contents of the zip onto the root of your microSD (overwriting everything when prompted), then run rajnx_ipl.bin using TegraRcmSmash or whatever USB payload injector you have !

USE
Select "Launch firmware" from the menu, select the appropriate profile, and you should be good to go !

FEATURES
  • Works on all Nintendo Switch firmwares AUTOMATICALLY, no need to manually swap files around on your microSD !
  • Supports homebrew via latest hbloader and hbmenu (fully customizable button combo and titleId you want to use to enter hbmenu, default is to launch hbmenu instead of Album unless "R" is held)
  • Supports exefs redirection, exefs patches, unsigned ncas and tickets ("sigpatching")
  • Supports extra options like LayeredFS (for romfs patches) and PreventGCUpdate via launch menu options!
  • Reduced telemetry by blocking eclct sysmodule from running, also uses creport that dumps to microSD instead of uploading to Nintendo.

Binaries contained in this release can be generated by compiling the following repositories:

SUPPORT
Ask your questions in this thread, no need to go to a separate Discord !
Serious discussion only, please do not spam it up with joke posts/bickering.

So from what I understand, current choices are your Rajnx, reinx and sx os. What are the differences, and why would someone choose this one over reinx? eli5 pls cause even after reading all these countless threads I still feel misinformed what the actual differences are apart from that sx os uses xci's and the rest use nsp's. Ive been leaning towards sx os because it seems xci's are safer from bans?

If you want to mess with plugin modules for different patches, ReiNX is your bet.

If you want everything to just work with little effort, RajNX I suppose.

If you want to pay for SXOS which may or may not be behind on updates compared to the rest of the Switch scene, well.
  • You can play XCI backups.
  • You can install NSPs made from XCI backups.
But SXOS is using old versions of current homebrew as part of their code base.

--

We expect free alternatives to get XCI and XCI-to-NSP support soon.

Well looking at reinx and rajnx, what are the differences? What are sig patches? Between XCIs and NSPs with sig patches what are better?

They both include the same patches at this point, because that's what's public. The only difference is RajNX doesn't let eclct sysmodule run so it helps block telemetry that reports to Nintendo.

ReiNX doesn't let you play pirated NPSs without additional patches though; afaik, I may be wrong. But it can use them if you add them with the "SD Stash" zip file you can find on their Discord.

Nevermind on that.

Well looking at reinx and rajnx, what are the differences?
The major difference between the two is the community and people who support and use them. ReiNX has a huge, boisterous Discord channel that has both very helpful users as well as some predatory and abusive trolls. RajNX's community is pretty much limited to what you see here on this thread. So if you want your CFW to be loud and meme-obsessed, go for for ReiNX. If you want something that just works without a lot of fuss or BS, than use RajNX.

This is not true anymore, as of ReiNX 1.0.

Any news about USB file transfering via payload?
  • Download memloader and TegraRcmSmash and extract them to a folder together.
  • Make a shortcut to TegraRcmSmash, then edit the properties.
    • Set the Target to: " [[your directory]] \TegraRcmSmash.exe" -w memloader.bin --dataini=sample\ums_sd.ini
  • Rename your shortcut; Run your new shortcut.
    • If it shows a menu instead of going straight into USB mode, then select --- Go to USB command mode instead ---
  • Your SD should be shown in your Drive list.
    • Transfer speeds will be limited to around 5MB/s, but it's better than FTP and more stable.
    • To power off, press and hold for around 5 seconds.
Run this any time you want to connect to your SD and transfer files.

How is it possible to autoboot into the CFW as soon as I send the payload to the Switch instead of bringing up the boot menu?
Also is it possible to show the boot menu only in those cases when I hold the VOL+ button?

I've put everything on my SD card but when I try to inject the payload with Tegrasmash I get an error RC=8. Any clue as to what am I doing wrong?
