So I've seen a few faulty tablets on bid and not sure if it can be fixed. Here is a common one

This item has been listed for parts as it powers on to the Nintendo sign and will not power on

This unit would not power up through its own battery and would only power up to the Nintendo sign before powering off (with the adapter connected).

The item would take a while to power back on again and you would have to put the charger back in to get the item power on to the Nintendo sign again.

This switch would not boot up past the nintendo sign.

All functions and connections are untested.

All internal parts are unchecked.

Screen – Untested
Battery life untested.
Condition – okay as there are marks/scuffs through general use.

Try the following:
- find out on which firmware it is (Ask the previous owner or check the SYSTEM Partition)
- try to boot into RCM
- get BISKeys
- mount SYSTEM with HacDiskMount
- Get a clean SYSTEM Backup of a non faulty Switch with the same Firmware as your faulty one
- Replace all the Contents from the faulty Switchs "SYSTEM/Contents/registered" with the clean ones.

If this doesn't work, I have some other Ideas you should try.

1. Do you think it's worth buying one even if seller can't get that info?

2. Also how much do you think I should pay up to?

3. What about a unit that doesn't turn on at all. There's no hope for that right?

1. It's worth buying as long as it just stucks at the bootlogo.
2. Not sure. Not too much. Try to get it for a low price since it's "defect".

Might go for it. Do you think the battery is also faulty as it only boots with the adapter.

Do not buy anything "as is" on Ebay that is not confirmed to power on. If you cannot solder, just don't. Don't hope that it is a battery issue. It is possible, if not more possible, that a fuse was shorted or that the device has damage across the whole enclosure due to water damage or idiot tampering.

The easiest repairs are housing damage (cracks, scratches, etc) and faulty daughterboards (which can be easily replaced without soldering involved).

I really despise ambiguous listings which do not state if they have been tested because it fucks you over as a customer due to the ebay return policy. If something is found that the seller did not inform you of, you have the right to return the device no matter what. If they don't have the effort to get a charger to test if the device powers on, fuck that listing.

As for price, do not go over $150 for a standalone tablet. Here is a perfectly working Switch tablet listing with the only problem being cracked housing.

Thanks for the heads up, this guy has about 6 switch tablets. Gonna go about £80 max which is just over $100

Just thinking, could this unit be one that got "bricked" because of the fake SX OS some people tried using. Those consoles are done for right?

I’ve bought a few that don’t power on and 99% of the time it just needs to be hard reset and charged. Only once did it need a new charger port.

I have been watching the same switches you are .. there from blinx right ?

Power problems normally down to the power ic that has been getting fckd by third party chargers docks etc... thats a ic that is very hard to replace unless u have the right tools and great with soldering..

I see they have a thew that get stuck at nintendo logo then restart. they would be the ones id buy and
my process would be to boot into rcm with a sd card installed with necessary hekate files on the sd

then plug in a stable power source charger or leave in usb lead to pc

Once id of booted into the bootloader id then back up all console info fuse data tsec etc so on
then do a boot 0 boot 1 backup then a raw nand backup

completely power down

then first id try to hold both volume buttons down and hit the power button to go into maintenance mode and try a factory data full system restore..

once that completed and restarted if that would not get past the nintendo boot logo,
I would then use a biskey dump payload.bin to get my system keys
Then hactools choidujour and try and recover my keys from nand backup

Then try to find out from my dumps which firmware the console was on how many fuses were burnt to give me a idea of which firmware...
Only then will i get the required files (system update folders nx etc and keys from web Xbins) to transfer a fresh copy of the system update/ via the the choidujour hactools mounting method

to then see if i could boot into the system.

Probably not the best way or well explained that be my trial and error on said unit

Also bought some of the Blinx units (Not yet arrived ) Possibly in bidding wars with you lol. M92t36's en route also - bought a nice hot air reflow station ..... Wish me luck.

No thanks i have worked for years in process rework stations for SMT pcb's in my youth - I'm quite handy at NOT burning and lifting traces .
I could be easy re-flow guy ?
