Well you have to remember that even Switch all original also tends to get bad battery calibrations, specially if you never fully cycle the battery which yes its not a good practise fore the battery life to be doing it constantly... Some recommend on android devices doing a full cycle at least once per month just for battery calibration purpose.

Now in terms of hacking the Switch, well after fixing the battery problem and fully cycling it, after messing with RCM a lot will probably lead to battery de-sync problem again;).

I hope with atmosphere release more hackers probably will try finding a better way to hack the Switch not based on the RCM exploit, because even with modchip soldered, theres probably still a chance to have problems related to using RCM even if it probably would be very fast and wouldnt stay much on the RCM.

Hell I hope someone could even make something like 360 RGH instead with the chip glitching the CPU to make it go to a state where it can run code, but after RCM exploit I'm sure no one is bothering trying to find other method (I mean why would they lose time when its hacked...) ;).

I'm beginning to lose track of how many times I've posted this.
So, Switch charges and does not charges in RCM. xD

The results (battery was 89%):

The switch can charge normally the battery, if the BCT is intact!
In RCM AND in hekate menu.
*BCT is the boot configuration table that autoRCM corrupts.

Tests showed that it was charging with the same current, as in Horison OS.
The current it was drawing with 89% battery, was 800mA - 1000mA, using Switch wall adapter. On PC, it was the max the hub could give.

------------------------------------

The switch cannot charge normally with a corrupt BCT (AutoRCM).
In hekate, it shows similar behavior (read below).

Extra emphasis on the "normally".

With autoRCM, basically a corrupt BCT, the switch behaves differently.
There are 2 behaviors that I saw when connecting to the switch wall charger:
  • Common - It was draining 140-250mA.
  • Common (in hekate) - 200mA - 400mA
  • Rare (normally if you connect charger after powering off from HOS) - Drain of alternating 250mA and 1000mA, with surges of 2.5A.

------------------------------------

Summary - facts:
  1. Switch can charge completely normally in RCM or Hekate with a BCT intact
    • The percent % in Horizon OS, after a RCM charge, is not fake.
  2. Switch does not charge normally with AutoRCM, a.k.a corrupt BCT.
    1. Either it charges very slowly or sometimes with a broken slow/fast/slow/fast charge pattern:
    2. Or this behavior is current taken from the USB controller or the BPMP (Nvidia's Boot and Power management processor)
    • In AutoRCM, the Charge IC probably can't update the battery calibration file and could make the percent fake.
I don't know for behavior .3 what really happens and what Switch does. This can be easily examined, by connecting a current multimeter between battery and switch and check the readings.

I know the feels.

Should probably make a video.

I'm on vacation but I can see what I can do. I might make one when I get back next week more than likely because that means I need to recreate the desync and then drain battery. That's a two day process without my switch :-/

If someone here could help me, that would be amazing. I didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to charge my switch if it died in AutoRCM - and it died. I left my switch on the wall charger overnight and nothing has come of it. My switch doesn't show up when plugged into my computer either.

Help?

your good, leave it in the wall for a bit, make sure it's not booting into rcm mode. Hold the power button for 12 seconds just to be sure.

Battery Died while on Auto-RCM.
No green light while charging via official cable direct or through dock.
Using Pro-Dongle SX

What to do? How to charge?
Ive left it 30min plugged in with NO charging light, and still does not power on.
Help

Help

run a payload then immediately plug it into a charger once the screen boots up.

I’ve only used the dongle.

U mean using PC?
if the dongle can run payloads then use the dongle. whatever it is, boot it and the moment the screen flashes you plug it into a wall charger and let it charge for a bit. the key is to atleast get to the screen where the charging battery icon shows

I left it plugged in over night after pressing the power button for 12 sec.
it still failed to boot. No lights on device. Nothing.

Do you have autorcm on?

YES! How do I boot?

Welp im fucked my switch somehow turned on in my bag and died completely, not sure what to do now

It will still charge in RCM with AutoRCM installed but just a lot slower. To be safe, hold down the power button for 12 seconds, connect it to a power source, and then check back after around an hour. From that point, either remove AutoRCM via a payload or boot into a CFW/Horizon to charge the Switch normally.

So im gonna do this, if it turns on im gonna select boot OFW and plug in the charger as fast as possible and hope it starts charging normally.
