Recently I bought a switch along with an sx pro(hasn’t arrived yet). I’m in the process of preparing my sd card. My Switch I believe has the latest firmware 5.1.0. I formatted my sd card as exFAT. When I insert my sd card into the Switch I get an update notification. After researching a little there’s a way to use exFAT without updating. My question is in my case being on the latest firmware is this necessary/benificial in any way?

If you are on 5.1.0 you are already on latest firm, so it's best to just grab the exfat update the standard way

Just put it on your Switch and follow its instructions, it's not a FW update, just the exFat update
