I've tried editing some simple things (like the number of Life Elixers in my inventory) to check if it works, but every time I get a corrupted save file error when I try to load it in game. if I inject my unedited backup save files, then I don't get this error.
The file I looked at was the SAVEDATA.DAT file of the relevant save file number. Finding the addresses for common materials and other inventory items was pretty simple. If I understand it correctly they appear twice in the file: once near the start, and once just over halfway through the file. I've tried editing my inventory count at only one of these places AND at both places, but each time I get that my save file is corrupted. I was very careful to edit only one simple thing (I only edited my Life Elixer inventory count to have 21 instead of 20), in order to check if I was doing the right thing. I have no clue why my save files are getting corrupted. Hopefully someone who understands this sort of thing better can figure this out.

Fun story, the PC version of the game also uses savedata.dat could you let me know if the file size is 800kb? Because if it is, you can probably have it run on the PC, use cheat engine to give yourself whatever you need, and then back to your console. Could you confirm the file size for me? As well as I will throw up a dummy save and let me know if you are able to load into it?

The PC version had a recent cheat engine thread made for it but I'm not entirely sure if I'm allowed to link that here. But do try this save file and let me know how it fares for you, this one has pretty much most of the stuff and skills maxed out.

Do you have an info.txt file too? On the switch version the save file folders contain a SAVEFILE.DAT, an info.txt (contains information about levels, playtime, date and time of the last save and perhaps more) and an icon0.png (the icon used in the list of 60 or so possible save slots). I don't think I can load your save file without the txt file and maybe the icon too. I'll give it a try regardless.

I'm afraid it doesn't work.
Whenever I try to load it, I am sent back to the main menu. The icon shown is just a blank one, and it says Adol's level is "@" instead of a number. It also doesn't give the current mission objective.
Edit: I just noticed that your icon is a .jpg file, whereas mine is a .png file. That might explain the blank icon.

Ah probably why, mines the GoG version and its on 1.0.0.1.
Let me mess around a bit and see if I can get the versions to match.
The autosave file also says it's corrupted. I thought I'd give it a try since Bayonetta's autosave file doesn't have a checksum.
Really hoping for this game to have even a simple item amount save editor. +1
