Hey guys

I am just wondering if any of you have disassembled the dongle and if you would be willing to post the pictures of the chips used?

That would be quite interesting. I'm more interested in the capacitor values they use as there seems to be a few sx pro dongles going around with bad caps.

Nobody wants to risk ruining a perfectly working dongle. Can't say I blame them. It crossed my mind to do exactly this, but I only have one and I use it to load external payloads.

i feel you should be able to only need the dongle one time, once it runs i assume it puts the license.dat file on your sd card and then you dont need it anymore as far as using it to load the payload cause the payload is a free download

if your feelings had anything to do with how things worked, there wouldn't be a need for schools...

EDIT: something still needs to send a payload through USB (that tells the switch how and what to boot... sx os in this case). Even if you installed auto rcm. the license for the os has no relevance here. People bought the pro so they wouldn't need a PC to do it.

you dont need a pc to do it regardless, (you can just as easily use a phone if you have the right cord) deal is is the license tells the os that you paid for it which means if its on the sd card you can just download the payload (and honestly, if you didnt have a backup method to load the payload id laugh at you when you accidentally break your dongle) and just run it via your pc, or phone

You still don't get the point of the dongle. People bought the dongle so that they don't have to use a fucking phone or creepy furby with an usb port in his butt crack. No one is gonna destroy a perfectly functional dongle or open one up in case of malfunction as long as they have the receipt for it and can contact the reseller to get it swapped out. Also not everyone has an android phone or a usb type-c cable around, so if that makes you laugh then you should visit a doctor because you clearly dropped on your head as baby.

i understand what the point of the dongle is, and you don't have to be a rude cunt about it. you really shouldn't be worried over your $40 battery and you should really have a backup method weather you spent the 40 for convenience or not.

Then why was your reply about using a phone? It was neither an argument against my reply nor was it informative. some (most?) people don't want to even carry a USB C cable around whether they want to use a phone or a PC. And Laugh? At what? we all have a PC, and the launcher payload is freely downloadable from the SX site, even if you didn't buy a dongle or license.

You must be off of your meds. ZERO contribution.

I only broke it down to see if it could easily be installed internally. While you can see in the video that it clearly can be, I would advise going for a Trinket M0 instead. It works fine installed internally however there is a pretty serious risk of damaging the SX Pro when attempting to remove it from its enclosure.

Pictures I took of it before removing the caps and wiring it directly:

The SX CFW does occasionally crash, maybe once every few days and some of us don't have Android devices to payload, which is another reason I got the SX Pro (I have an iOS device).

Interesting, Caps don't appear overly difficult to replace.
