I read something that an ESP8266 should also be able to be used to create a dongle.
Did anyone try that with an ESP8266 and it worked?
If yes could someone send me a Tutorial how to create the dongle and a link where i can get the payload that needs to be flashed on the device?
Would be great if it‘s possible to boot SX OS with the ESP (with a purchased license for SX OS 1.2)

Google suggests that it's a ESP-8266 inside, so yeah probably.

It's cheap got a screen, selector, and can be run by battery.

I've not been able to program the esp8266, usb host is why it failed.

if you mean the internal install then 30awg kynar wire.and for the bat and gnd 28awg wire.

it's all on personal preference really what you use.

Found the images and instructions where to solder the chip but where can i find the software that needs to be flashed on the M0?
I would need a version where i can put the SX OS Bootload Payload in so i can boot up SX OS.
Is it also possible to flash it with MacOS? Because i only have a Macbook abaliable atm

i made a guide In the tutorial section and it contains the payload already made ready to flash including the sx so one, as for Mac I no idea but if you find the drivers for the trinket for Mac then the guide thread also contains files you can drag and drop onto the trinket once in boot loader mode.

just checked and Mac and Linux do not require drivers, just us Windows foke.

I actually have one of these zsun adapters. never really used it, interested to see how this works out.

I've used my Zsun so much it's nuts. As an SD reader. As a wifi extender (in hotels with poor wifi). As a portable media NAS (great for travel with an iPhone/iPad with limited storage). As a photo backup device... The thing is endlessly versatile, and that's all on the stock firmware.

I really want another incase mine breaks, but Gearbest, Banggood, etc. are sold out.

What do you think about that? I may look into 1 of those routers or something else that doesn't need soldering, only quick programming and done.

This comment is complete BS. The attiny85 doesn't have usb host support.
At the moment the trinket m0 is the best option for a internal installation or if you want to build a dongle with a lipo. An other option for a external device are those cheap wifi routers.

I've not managed to get a few suggestions to work, due to no usb host, trinket is the best solution at the moment, and possibly the gemma m0 but I'm waiting on one to be delivered.

£8 or $8 ain't a bad price to pay for something internal, better than having to carry a dongle around, also cheap is not always the best way to go in my opinion.

If your not able to solder then the dongle is your best method.

Do you think a very small cheap MP4 player could be used to send the payload?

They are super slim, little, come with their own small battery and charger circuit integrated and with a screen which would be nice to change payloads.
