What I don't get is why people are angry at Team SX.
It's the same thing with a gun... you point it at yourself and shoot... and the everyone is angry at the gun factory...

great read. And I agree with almost everything he said. However the majority of his fanboys do act exactly like he's saying he's not acting. Also he puts to rest the idea that the brick code is irreversible since he admits that the password was created from random stack garbage due to him messing with the code.

I actually bought a sc pro, but i think it's fair that people outrage to remove this malicious code from the os, you can "risk" to brick people console for a casual mistake, even if it's a low chance of happening and only few people. Anyone defending them is lying in saying they don't fear even a little they could brick their console.

Code will never be removed. Like it or not, it's effective.

GW added it, result=no more GW clones. Wasn't outrage that killed GW, free cfw surpassing it did, which would happen with or without the code.

Same will happen here, some people will complain, some users who have an axe to grind will complain and yet Sx os will go on, will only die once free cfw is better. No benefit to remove it and open it up to clones.

lol at this thread, seriously. I don’t blame them for doing it, I own a TX dongle, am I worried about this so called brick code?? Am I fuck!!! I won’t be trying to crack it, that’s why. I paid for it so I’m gonna use it the way it was intended and not give two fucks about this.
Honestly did anyone actually think there WOULD NOT be some sort of protection against cracking hakzorz.
This forum is really starting to go downhill and fast, which is a shame because I’ve gained a lot of knowledge over the years from this place. Anyone know anywhere else I can go that’s not so infested with idiots that will create drama and bicker about every little thing??

just wondering, the initial "brick" code from GW didn't even need a nand backup at all, as the nand was simply locked (not encrypted or wiped etc) so it was possible to just make a fresh backup, force erase (as you cant just unlock the device without triggering a wipe or providing the correct password), and then simply restore, zero real danger unless they do things differently and force erase the chip before locking

except this time it can all be done from RCM mode so it would be even less effective than what GW did, so no soldering etc to restore, assuming all this is true in this case, it wouldn't be dangerous at all even if it did miss-fire, it would only be a minor hindrance to people attempting cracking as they would have to continually restore backups each time it happened, thus slowing them down slightly, although from reading the post on the brick code, I guess they could attempt to just neuter the brick code or at the very least force it to use a specific known password so they could simply unlock the emmc without having to perform restore and rinse and repeat while RE'ing the loader

I remember GW brick code was harder to fix because we regular users don't have the hardware to fix it.

But this brick code only requires RCM to fix and anyone can make a jig.

I've never seen so many people defending something that gets you banned online, contains brick code, and has made a faceless chinese company $1.5m in sales.

So many people forget why Wood firmware and Akaio were created, to remove kernel bombs. Like I said before, this is going to be an interesting year.

Sounds like you're wishing for bad shit to happen
The company provided a means to piracy and people bought into that product. Simple

I am enjoying my sx pro right now.

Honestly I hope I'm wrong. I'm on team "no one has the right to fuck with something they didn't sell you", that's my only beef. I don't care that they're selling a piracy device, what I do care about is the recent wave of people that think just because brick code doesn't affect you, that it has ANY place in the loader.

Why should users potentially get hit by bullets intended for competitors?

Look, I get that you guys want to justify the money you spent, no one wants to look like a moron for buying the wrong thing, I just want to harbor the ideas that we should always question shady tactics, not just accept them as part of the big picture.

You STILL have gateway apologists, even when a trusted staff member here got bricked by their shitware, and if you check the original thread, they Couldn't fix it so they kept his 3ds (with his personal info on it mind you) and bought him a 3ds they had shipped to him.

I can't imagine how he would have been treated if he wasn't a reviewer for GBATemp.
