Nah i wouldn't resort to that, debating is healthy even if the subject is trivial :D

That's great, always nice to know that the temp still has people who don't completely lose their minds when someone disagrees. But, arguments where both sides are pretty resolute aren't usually all that fruitful.

Makes perfect sense, since that's all he posted about. What doesn't make sense would be him releasing a fully cracked SX OS using his real name on Twitter. That would be a fast track to a visit from Nintendo's lawyers for sure.
He doesn't have to give a binary. Python scripts work quite well, for example.

Why would I install firmware that has potential to brick my Switch?

What......

Nintendo Lawyers are going to be pissed that he cracked SX OS?

Jesus christ you people are stupid

They can think about their investment alright. But a crack coming shouldn't be a surprise considering the free opensource scene isn't that much far behind. And I don't think the pissing and discrediting against dev is justified.

I definitely don't hate TX and I think they did a good job with their solution. Also agree on paid solution being the driving force. I've said before they are definitely leading the scene forward. I would have personally bought a SX pro but I don't want to deal with their 3rd party re-sellers and sharing my personal info.

Same here tbh, i think they have done an excellent job and with the speedy updates its getting even better. The only negative thing i could say is that they never mentioned anything about the brick code.

Tbf that's a risk you take in general.. Getting bricked that is..

Your right about that, lets move on to the world cup. I think Portugal will win it, tell me you don't and i will tell you why your wrong

You just have to trust these guys are good enough to remove the brick codes completely.

It's like cracking Denuvo. A bad Denuvo crack will crash the game. A bad SX crack will brick your switch. :D

The os costs 20-25 dollars. What's wrong with you guys? Why don't you just buy it if you want to use it.
Switch games cost only around $50 (sometimes a little more, sometimes much less), why don't you just buy them if you want to play them? Same end goal anyway, right?

Got a source?

SX hasn't been around for long enough, we'll just have to wait and see how things go from here on out.

there was the confirmation in one of the ban threads, they are so full of spam but they are there, tried to find the post because he said it on discord, but cant find it sorry

Nope that wasnt it, it was something that using layered created custom errors, and that the modified one was using an unfinished product so if those errors were sent to nintendo that would get you banned

All good.
found it

Quoted from SciresM's warning:
Btw, I had assumed it went without saying -- if you're playing with unofficial builds of work in progress layeredfs stuff that is broken (and crashes frequently, consequentially), you shouldn't be anywhere near online and shouldn't even have online enabled. I use custom error codes for debugging, and if a report with one of those goes up to N's server from your console, you will almost certainly get banned from online. If you're concerned about that, don't use stuff until it's done.

Ah I see, is it conjecture or is it something that will happen?
If it's the latter, then, if SciresM never gave any warnings, yeah I'd agree that using layeredFS would be a worse idea than SX. Though it's not like playing online with either of them is a good idea.

Well he gave the warning after the banwave started, because I guess he was made clear that dont pirating games was enough, but well the wave happened wiping a LOT of layered users

For the sake of clarity, all he actually said was that he would release the decrypted bootloader. He said nothing about a full working crack.

For the sake of clarity, that doesn't appear to be what he said at all.

Q: "All this is cool, but we (community) would like to receive a direct answer - will you release that crack on public or it's personal challenge only?"

A: "I don't see why this would be kept private so..."

Both his tweets and his blog post are referring to his decryption of the bootloader. He has not progressed any further than that. Maybe someone should ask him to clarify.

Not sure i’d wanna gamble using cracked software that contains known malicious, encryption-routines to combat exactly that..

I know there’s ways of recovering, however, it’s without doubt going to be a huge ball-ache to deal with.. Meh..

The licence really isn’t that expensive, each to their own though eh.. :grog:

In the blog post he linked to from his twitter page he explicitly says he's cracking the DRM. Just decrypting the bootloader won't do that.

I know that. But right now all he has is the decrypted bootloader. There is nothing else to release right now until he is able to progress further. People seem to think a full working crack release is imminent, which is simply not the case.
