Yes because the point of being banned is to prevent you from doing other more dangerous things with the CFW such as playing illegal backups or cheating in online games. Its an unauthorized modification to your system and banning people is the result of being safe than sorry.

so I'm going to have to upgrade my nintendo switch 4.1 because it does not make sense anymore to wait for the atmosphere ... thank you very much

This brings up the question I'm sure has been asked, but the answer could have changed and 119 pages is a lot to look through:

Does Atmosphere have any known way to prevent bans announced so far? I know it depends largely on what data Nintendo collects, but it has to have come up by now.

You cannot prevent being banned when you use a CFW or any unauthorized modification to the system. You can mask the attempts, but Nintendo can theoretically unmask whatever is used to hide our tracks which involves into a cat and mouse game. So do not expect there to ever be a CFW that is 100% safe because it is 100% impossible.

I haven't heard that there's such a method already. Besides, Atmosphere hasn't been entirely released yet. But maybe there'll be one in the future.

It's not even working yet...

At least get to the point where N can ban you for using it first...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Layered FS was a mistake, they should have done all of that after the CFW was released fully :P
They gotta jump on the attention bandwagon and get something out before TX release their backup loader....

"Prevent" was the wrong word I guess. "Hide" was more akin to my intended meaning.

I know it hasn't been released, I was only asking in the hope that it had been discussed by the developers.

I'm just asking for future purposes

I don't know what you are talking about, I do not have 5.0.1 and as far as I know that only works for 5.X.X.

So yea, for me LayeredFS doesn't even exists xD

If Nintendo was thinking that cheap way, they shouldn't sell the Switch with the Hardware exploit in first place, just for prevent that we modify without authorization

Then in that case, I believe that is their goal as well as anyone else who makes any hack for those who do not wish to get banned. However, I would say right now their primary focus seems to be making it work properly rather than trying to make it mimic the Switch's OS (which they have shown at certain times)

They are planning on selling a Nintendo Switch revision without the hardware exploit. Whether they could have foreseen such an exploit being brought into the public is speculation and off-topic.

That I try to say is "prevent" shouldn't be a ban option for Nintendo.

As it is, it requires time and money to implement checks for anti-piracy and for a team to check the data to implement bans. Delving further may or may not be worth the added time and money for what they are saving. As it is, people who hack their devices are already a small minority of the larger userbase. I see no reason why you would play favorites or cater towards personalizing bans for hackers.

If you pirate software and break their terms that you agree to they can do what they please with a service they provide to be fair. You're all (I think) adults so make your own minds up what to do.

Back OT looking forward to atmosphere. Retroarch ftw!
