i get why one would like to downgrade, but why make the step to current firmware first?

Like I said, to get game updates for their carts and to play current games until coldboot/warmboot stuff is ready for lower firmwares.

thats so cool hope we can get this soon tho am staying on 2.1 for a while now and it gets harder with every new game announcement you know

I have already updated. No regrets. What if Nintendo developed a way to detect which fuses have been blown?
Since we can just use a jig regardless of the firmware version, I rather play safe, keep the eMMC intact for online stuff, and wait for eMMC redirection for CFW.
Not to mention the brick risk.

However I think it's a nice option for those who don't care about online that much.

I just updated my console to play Fortnite.
its not worth it losing a potentially cold boot option for it
sure am talking about myself..everyone else have the freedom to do what ever he want to his switch

if you think this way..then nintendo can also ban you for using TX-OS with a wrong .XCI cert
or banning you for using RCM as there is a logs and they can check it

Do you want to start a disscussion about TX's SX?

Cheers pal.

Do you want to start a discussion about TX's SX?
as i said earlier everyone is free to do whatever he want with his switch dude
but i don't see a cold boot coming anytime soon for anyone who updated above 3.2 as SirecM said that clearly
"if you are above 3.2 then you are fucked !"
again if it doesn't matter you to have a cold boot then congrats you now can play online as much as you like ;)

It was a joke about TX, because I see there's a holywar between TX and Atmosphere.

in my opinion competition is necessary for any healthy community but the problem is actually with people for being salty
i don't care who buy TX..if they happy with it then be it
of-course i will go all the way with atmosphere as i prefer the open source and i don't wanna pay for something will be available for free in near future you know :)

Nobody will give you their nand backup so if you don't have a nand backup of which versions you want to downgrade don't search for anything.

That's going to be a big hell no, for like, ever. That would be awesome, but, ain't that still not even possible on the 3DS? Not sure, haven't looked at 3DS homebrew in forever.
3DS has ctrtransfers, those are essentially NAND backups from other consoles but decrypted.

As for nintendo being able to check the fuse integrity, I have no idea. But one would think that this method would fake the fuse being blown or something similar because if you don't autoRCM when doing this method you will burn the fuse. So some form of code has to be run at each boot from what I can tell, but I'm not a 100% sure on that.

Now what I can see you getting banned for is updating then downgrading back down and then connecting to the internet on that lower firmware. Nintendo might keep logs of the version you are running, so that could be a red flag. That and updating to the current firmware more than once. But that's all speculation. You could probably get around that by creating a NAND backup and the higher firmware and then restoring when and if you want to jump back and forth.

If you are really worried about getting banned you shouldn't be messing around with any homebrew/hacking in the first place, there will always be risks.

I am on 3.0.1. How can I make a NAND backup of that firmware of my firmware?

Run Hekate and do a full NAND backup. I would also suggest backing up boot0 and boot1. Also you will need a 32gb sd for that and it should be formatted to exfat.

Also on another slightly off topic note.
We might have emu-NAND sooner than we thought.
