Is this a theoretical or has it been done?
We still waiting. Unless you plan on using SX OS, I don't see why you need the exFAT update. There's no homebrew that are larger than 4 GB. I can maybe understand wanting to get ready when a publicly available backup launcher/installer becomes available, but its not saving you any time.

It's not necessary, but it's neat to have. Kind of like nice clothing or a pet.

I don't think the dongle is bad, it is only that it's just another thing to carry around
No it isn't - you'd otherwise need a cable plus an adapter (eg a USB C to lightning cable is probably hard to find, you'd be using an adapter in that case).
Edit: why would you need a cable anyway? If you need a USB C to normal USB for charging - no phones that I know of have normal USB holes in them, you'd then have to have an adapter to micro USB, or carry two cables.

I see nothing wrong with people getting the exFAT update. I personally don't see any reason outside of potentially faster writing speeds versus FAT32. exFAT is superior over FAT32 in every sense, but if its installed into the Switch's NAND without connecting to the Internet, you could potentially be banned when you are connected.

I don't want to carry around more things, but as @genericuser#01 said before, I would still need to carry an extra cable, so touché.

PS: I would just need a micro usb to usb-c cable that sells for $3 on Amazon.

Why are people so adverse to RCM? It ain't hard to get in RCM. I see loads of people acting like RCM is a deal breaker on hacking solutions. I just don't get it. It's one of the easiest early-stage scene entrypoints I've ever witnessed.
yea i dont get it either. Just bend a paperclip and you're in. easy as that

The only drawback to RCM, IMO, is that there are moments where you need a compatible phone or PC, and are nowhere near one. Hopefully SX Pro fixes this.

You are correct that it's possible. However, it appears likely that Switch systems with the exFAT update installed, regardless of the method of installation, are indistinguishable from each other.

You haven't said what you need this cable for. I can't see what you'd need a micro USB to USB C cable that's not for loading payloads. Oh well I'll leave you to your circular world ;)
? What?
Read the comment you're quoting. What the hell you quote it for if you didn't read it?
To inject a payload. FFS. Fusee Gelee exploit injected from the cell phone on RCM.

I freely admit that, since I work from home, I can't relate too much. That being said, once Atmosphere releases, it shouldn't be too difficult to stay in it for as long as you need to. When the system runs low on power, it goes into sleep, so it won't be an issue. Early-stage Hekate is the only thing that ever made me hard restart my Switch.

Quantum is talking about the TX dongle, which sends the payload itself. If you only bought the OS, yes, the cable is necessary for running payloads.

If you have the dongle you don't need the cable ---- do you get it now? You're swapping a little piece of plastic for a cable. You haven't made things any more convenient for yourself, in fact less convenient.

You only need EITHER a dongle OR a cable. The dongle is more convenient for the following reasons:
  1. Unless the cable is a very short one, the dongle takes up less space and you don't have to wind it up when storing it
  2. The dongle doesn't need anything extra - doesn't need the phone
  3. The dongle comes with some bonus software which you can choose to use or not
If you have the dongle you DON'T need the cable. The cable has NO features that make it more convenient than the dongle.

As I first stated in this post, I preferred to use the phone INSTEAD OF A DONGLE to inject payloads, and I stated that I wouldn't need to carry anything else but the phone around and it wouldn't cost extra:
Perhaps... still I don't know why would you prefer a dongle that you don't normally carry around and would mean extra baggage, requires recharging and lasts only a couple of injections; compared to your cell phone that you always carry around anyway and has plenty of charge to perform as many injections as you wish, and also is fully and easily configurable and probably there is no limit for the binaries it may hold and send.

PS: And also the cell phone costs no extra money.

As alienware777 stated in this post, not all phones can inject and in any case I would need to carry around an additional cable:
Wow, its almost like you are trying to talk like an expect even though you are the exact opposite and don't realize most phones can't inject. But hey, you are going to buy me a new phone right? One that can inject? Oh... does that mean I now carry two phones? Or wait I need to sell my current one right

OH and, this means you need a usb c to usb c cable, so thats another $10 and a cable you have to bring around with you. OH, and you said "compared to your cell phone that you always carry around anyway" sorry what? You carry a usbc to usbc cable with you everywhere currently? Or a microusb to usbc maybe depending on phone? Seriously? No you don't.... You might carry a usb a to usbc/microusb to charge, but no way in hell have you previously brought a c to c or micro to c

As I acknowledged in this post ("touché"), alienware777 post made perfect sense, so if I wanted to use the phone I would also need to carry a cable, that made my point of "no need to carry anything else but my cell phone around" invalid:
I don't think the dongle is bad, it is only that it's just another thing to carry around.
I don't want to carry around more things, but as @genericuser#01 said before, I would still need to carry an extra cable, so touché.

I hope you realize that I know I don't need a cable for the dongle and I just wanted to use my phone in order not to carry an additional dongle, but many posts ago alienware777 stated that FOR THE PHONE I would require the cable and I acknowledged that.

PS: The cable in question.
