Hacking Question Exfat or fat32

Just got my 200gb SD card ready for tx os would it be better to format it to exfat or fat32 I'm on fw3.0.0 if that makes a difference

Exfat would be better for the future once backups are able to be downloaded and transfer to the SD card, a lot of games are longer than 4GB, and FAT32 has the 4GB size limit.

You've been able to do that for a while now. You can even dump your own games if you want.

Well you can't really run it without the CFW that SciresM is working on.

FAT32 has the size limit of 4GB, you cant transfer a single file that is larger than 4GB, there is tutorials around showing to add exfat support to the system but it involves messing around with the System nand.

The SD card speed is a bit better with exFAT on 128KB cluster size, so games will load faster.
Saving a bit of time and hassle when setting up games, because splitting is another step.
Less risk of accidently updating because the exFAT update nag won't pop up anymore.

These are little improvements but installing the driver is easy and has little to no risk, so either way is oke.

Please, stop. Atmosphere will not come with a "backup launcher" out of the box. OP was asking in relation to TX, not Atmosphere, so what you're saying is absolutely irrelevant.

I think I'll just keep it native fat32 as it seems to be the easiest thing I don't mind having split files

it's not what firmware, it's separate from the firmware.

Before, we didn't have a way of obtaining the exFAT update without subsequently updating our System Firmware. Then we had a way to do it but it involved a type of modification that Nintendo would flag because we grabbed the update without telling them. NOW, we have a way of grabbing the exFAT update without worrying to be banned so I would recommend following riyyi's CFW section of his linked Tutorial to grab the update as safely as possible.

what is this refering to?

1) Create new directory in what and where structure?
2) Where is this patch.zip? i dont' see it in the downloads.

is it as easy as coping all the contents/folders in my sd card to my desktop and formatting my sd card to exFAT and restore it

Yes so long as your Switch has the exFAT update currently installed

If you have dumped your NAND and have access to a game that has the same system firmware as your dump, you can install the exFAT via this tutorial. Otherwise, if you are already on the latest firmware which is 5.1, you can just insert an exFAT formatted SD card which will prompt you to install the update.

This TF card's default format is exFat.
