I know that ultimately the choice is mine but i can't seem to make the step in buying a Nintendo swich.
It seems to be more of an port-old-games platform then something else.
Even LA noir which is really old has find it's way to the switch!?
But call of duty or the latest assassin creed are mia (with no intention of the makers to change that situation)
Having a wiiu already doesn't make it better because it seems like a waste of money and time to rebuy and replay the great games like mario kart or donkey kong

In other words: can someone give some good reasons to reserve some of my holiday money for a switch or should i just use it for the holiday itself

i have the same problem i think i wil wait until a big price drop and also the new revision wil be hacked i dont care when !
there are not allot of exclusives i want to play now on the switch only game i want to try out is the new mario

A lot of games are going to come out in the next couple years. Until then, you just wait until you see a game that appeals to you or until the switch is on a sale and you can get it cheaper.

There really is no point in buying one right now if you're not interested in the current realeased games and ports.

If the games that interest you are Call of duty and Assassins creed then the switch is not for you. I'd say get yourself a gaming pc. The reason to buy Nintendo is for the marios ,zeldas, kirbys ect.
With that being said all nintendo consoles always end up with an amazing library of games. Also it's one of the best consoles to mod/cfw.

Exactly. PC for the AAA games and stuff on every platform, Ninty for the exclusives. Although If you want portability Then (I find it) a 3-way tie between nintendo sony and decent laptops/GPD stuff. Nintendo still with the best exclusives, the computers have the most options (but are expensive, especially for decent ones /GPD win), and the vita already has homebrew and is cheapest option as of now.

I've never been a fan of blowing money on holidays, week or 2 is up and money is gone... buy a games console you can use for years instead!

like people said if you like cod and assasins creed just get a ps4/xb1 or a gaming PC.

the reasons to get a switch are nintendo games and portability.
mario odissey
xenoblade 2
mario rabbids
kirby

if your not into nintendo exclusives and just want big third party AAA games just get another console.

Hands down

I'd suggest a PS4 now. They're pretty cheap now and you'll get the third party games and Sony exclusives.

Down the line you can pick up a Switch if anything grabs your attention. With a PS4 and a Switch you're completely covered.

Buy one.

My best gaming in the past 5 years has been:

BOTW
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Odyssey

all on the switch.

However this year has been VERY dry for games. I would argue to hold off but given there will be a hardware revision (silent) which will stop a few exploits and provide no extra value, I'd grab one now.

I'll second this. I mostly game on PC (and use that entirely for multiplayer) but there's some solid exclusive titles on the PS4, with more released either recently or on the way. Unless you're seriously into homebrew I'd wait at least a year, probably longer, to pick up a Switch.
