Introducing: the GBAtemp Download Center
We're happy to inform you that we've rebuilt our download center. All the files that were posted on the Filetrip download categories have been imported back into the GBAtemp download center just like they were 10 years ago. So technically, it's already got over 10,000 files!

The GBAtemp Download Center is a place where you can host your project files, receive user reviews, upload new versions, and much more! it is accessible by clicking the "Downloads" link at the top of the page. Here's the list of features it currently offers:

  • Host files up to 100 MB big, many files formats are accepted (zip, 7z, rar, pdf, png, jpg, etc.) if formats are missing please let us know so we can add them to the white list
  • Add a tag line, description, and screenshots/images for your file to make people want to download it
  • Version history management: upload new versions of the same file
  • Lots of categories for all your needs! If you have suggestions for more categories please let us know

For the next two weeks, every time you upload a new file in the download center, you will receive a +20 XP bonus! This bonus will go down to 5 points only after that.

Also please note: the download center is meant to host your files but is not suited for discussion. To allow discussion about your file or project, please make sure to create a thread on the forums. Do not comment or discuss a file by submitting a review of the file (the review system should be used for reviews - not for comments/discussion).

That's what'll make it worthwhile I guess. It'll be so lightweight you won't even know you're running an operating system!
like "wtfplay", 50mb os!
oh wait its linux distro...
whatever. pretty much the same...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

imo you should leave some xp bonus per downloads, forever, or per uploads. this will give the incentive for everybody to make cool stuff in the future and use this download center more.

is there a way to have multiple downloads for the same entry? for one PC utility I make, I provide win32 and win64 versions. I would prefer not to make two entries, or upload both and use the version history for the separate files.

That's not what the version history is for. You should just link both downloads in the software's thread and link the downloads to each other in their description.

Are there any plans to integrate this into posting (for HB Releases, for example)? Better to have a link to a folder with a bunch of stuff still on the site than a pile of attachments, imo.

Upload something, go to its page, copy the link.

It would be nice to have a frame in the post that includes the download button and version history already so you can track it in the thread, but I guess if anyone can upload whatever then it will be harder to keep track of updates.

I'll probably upload some saves and stuff later on down the line. I don't think I have much of anything worth being uploaded right now

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
