So I tried the paperclip thing several times and decided to simply order a jig online. Hopefully it gets here soon and I can use it.
If the jig works, I recommend installing briccmii as a means to perma-boot the Switch into RCM. This way, you don't have to use the jig or paperclip anymore. Be warned that your Switch will no longer ever boot up normally without uninstalling briccmii (which is done the same way as installing it) or having a USB-C cable around to deliver a payload that will boot up the Switch.

Question, For RCM mode pin 9 and 10 need to be short, what if i short it with aluminium foil and leave it there or i could short them from within the switch and leave it that way, will it be fine or continuous shortage will cause problem?

since every exploit appears to be using this jig method that is firmware agnostic why is the general consensus to stay on the lowest firmware possible
if im on 4.1 is there any negative to updating?

Does anyone know how difficult it will be to launch Atmosphere when it is released? I have a 3.00 switch, will it be a bit like the psvita where you just went to a website? Appreciate it anyone can answer!

With any version of hekate, when launching firmware you have two options, stock and cfw. CFW gives access to the homebrew menu... What does stock do? Im scared to click it.

Isn't this technically out of date now with CTCaer's new payloads that work on 1.0,2.x,3.0,4.x,5.x ??

https://gbatemp.net/threads/rcm-payload-hekate-ctcaer-mod.502604/

and the sd files:

Follow this guide on how to setup Fusee Gelee but use the files below instead :) https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-hacking-101-how-to-launch-the-homebrew-menu-on-4-x-5-x.504012/ (FYI your going to need some sort of "jig" and a USB to Type C cable)
This is the payload I used https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/releases/tag/v1.5.1
and these is the sdfiles I used https://github.com/Jan4V/hekate-ipl-50x/releases/download/v1.0.0/sdfiles.zip

If you can somehow ensure the tin foil DOES NOT go anywhere its not supposed to, it will be fine. Some tape can help to ensure this. Otherwise, it may end up causing your Joy-Con to not charge on the Switch or even worse. There is an ultimate list of mods to enter RCM thread here that you can consult for alternative methods.

Because the jig may not always work properly. Not to mention that using the jig alone is not sufficient to load the exploit. It also involves sending a file through the Switch's USB port which is not ideal if say you're out of your house and you turn off your Switch which will involve having to repeat this process. The holy grail method of booting hacks would involve something that isn't tethered or rooted into a hardmod. This may be found in the future so to be safe, it is still recommended not to update. Also, once the CFW Atmosphere is done, we will all be able to update to the latest firmware anyway using EmuNAND.

For a 3.0 switch, it will involve doing a minor hardmod to the Switch such as inserting a paperclip into the right Switch rail then connecting the Switch to either a computer or Android device to send a .bin file to install it. There is an unreleased software-based exploit that you can utilize to install it however we're on the dark on what that exploit exactly is. Presumably, it will be made available the same day Atmosphere is released.
