I'm very new to the ps3 scene, and I'v been trying to get psp emulation working on my modded ps3, but I'v run into a number of dead ends. The built in one in multiman spits out an error about needing cobra (which I have no idea how that works or what I'd do with it if i could find it). Theres a "cobra compatibility" option in the multiman settings, but it just spits out an error. The psp launcher I'v been directed to requires a licence, but I can't find that licence anywhere and no one on the forums I'v been at will tell me how to get one. Everyone on those forums always treats me like I'm some kind of idiot for not already knowing how this stuff works, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to learn how it works if no one tells me. Does anyone here know anything about this or what I should do?

I can help you my dude, so you say you;re using multiman on 4.82, which 4.82 are you on? are you on FERROX or REBUG custom firmware?

I had problems with PSP emulation (which honestly is kind of shit and has like a 20% compatibility, be warned) but works ok with lowe-impact games like minis and shooters/platformers.

The way I fixed my issues was installing REBUg over the old FERROX cfw i had installed, installing webman for ISO selection from XMB, then installing the PSP placeholder from Brewology and launching them using the placeholder once I loaded the psp ISO from webman.

Do you have cobra mode enabled on rebug? You could also use webman.
I mentioned in the initial post about the cobra setting spits out an error. I dont know what webman is, I'll look into that.

it's rebug

Odd, rebug 4.82 should already have webman and cobra, and I'm supposed to enable it from the "rebug toolbox" but I don't seem to have that

oh you'll be fine, Install this:
http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=311
and hold L1 while launching it once installed from your game folder, this will install webman which is an iso loader right from xmb, once installed (as package then ran), you'll see it in the same column as package installer.

then have your PSP iso's in PSPISO folder in either hdd0 or usb0, anywhere else they won't be found and don;t use cso or dax, decompress them first.

run the webman option at the top of webman to refresh your games list and reboot your console. do this every time you add new iso's, it generates an xml file with all your games info and doesn;t scan live on each reboot.

then install this:
https://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=247
which will let you launch whatever psp iso is "mounted" in webman. this i launched from game folder once installed

and latest rebug toolbox is here : https://rebug.me/?wpfb_dl=197 youll enable cobra in here, not in multiman.

hold L1 while launching it once installed,
One problem, I can't hold L1 while booting because I dont have a ps3 dual shock. I only have a ps4 controller and a 3rd party controller, both of which I have to connect after it already boots.

also, the download link for that first link is broken

you might be able to get away with launching it without L1, i still had it so its on my mega account here: https://mega.nz/#!4gdl0AZA!m2-pBEUOdGI_leJIwfmaj8DRRE1kummB9xD2x9PU8PQ

Is the fan supposed to go absolutely nuts when booting webman?

haha it's adjustable. It's set that way so n00bs who launch ps2 isos on nonBC systems don't YLOD their shit (the ps2 emulator makes the ps3 work its balls off)

you can change the settings in webman by web browsing to your ps3's IP address when it's connected to your wifi or going into the webman temperature settings in the webman launcher in the same bar as package installer (not the updater in game folder)

it's not hurting it, if anything it;s keeping it cooler.

but here's where you go

my ip ends in 1.18 so switch to yours

http://192.168.1.18/setup.ps3
then it should look like this

keep in mind though, my ps3 sounds like a vacuum when i run ps2 games, but i've never frozen or ylod'd

considering it's so absurdly loud it's literally drowing out my tv sounds, I'd rather change it. And my settings are already like yours, so I see no reason for the fan to be THAT loud. I really need to get the fan to stop sounding like a literal jet in my room.

here's a thread about it on ps3hax, i might just be used to it or my pc overpowers it.

Ok, fixed the fan issue, and mounted the iso (I also made sure it was compatible. It is) and I have the licence issue when launching the launcher app you linked. am I using the correct one? I download "psp launcher fixed [jjkkyu]"

Nevermind? I guess? It just started working now for some reason... No idea what I did, or how it started working, but it is now.

awesome, glad it worked for ya!

psp is the only thing you need a launcher for, webman can launch psx, ps2, and ps3 iso's as well, just remember to refresh games list in webman settings after adding more. have fun!
