This is why I hope people consider using Linux instead of a hacked OS to run homebrew. There shouldn't be any way for Nintendo to detect you are booting into Linux if it doesn't touch the eMMC, thus avoiding banning. Its less convenient, but surely worth it to be able to just use a single console for everything without the risk of banning.

Anyone using hacked firmware and/or downloading from the eShop using none-standard method should expect a ban, you are technically breaking the law (at least in the EU I believe) as you only have permission to access their servers using authorised methods - anything else could be argued as unauthorised access of someone elses computer and thus illegal. Although I'm not aware of any attempt to take someone to court over it, easier to just ban them outright.

I don't think so, recovery mode by its nature boots before everything else with no eMMC access at all. So how would it log anything?

Exactly. If someone ported Lakka with Steam In-Home streaming working in that OS, my Switch OS would never need to be hacked. The only thing I still wonder about is the whole battery calibration. Does it still throw that off?

That's true, but some people here feel they won't be banned, and are going to be very upset if they are.

I am curios about can we still use cdn downloader apps even with a banned switch cert. I know if you banned, you cant access eshop but some cdn downloader apps only send redownload request (one of this is @SimonMKWii 's HACDN). Sooo what will happens?

I doubt it. Every console I've ever owned had been modified in some way. I've never been banned on any console that got online modified. I can't guarantee that it won't happen to me on my Switch, but I can say that I am waiting out the process so that my likelyhood of being banned is lower. I'm also smart enough to not do things that cause a ban such as purchasing another Switch account like you have or using Nintendo's CDN like some others have.
