The CFW, Hekate, you are using to boot into the homebrew launcher freaks out when the Switch is put into sleep mode. Atmosphere, the other CFW that is still being developed, will most likely not have this problem because Hekate is not a complete build.
Oh nice that's pretty good.

The problem comes that Atmosphere will have to be booted the same way as Hekate because this is the only way to boot into the CFW for right now.
I guess as long as Atmosphere is "compatible" with the sleep mode I think that would be still really good thing.

Trying to load the CFW when the Switch turns on will not work because the Switch won't load the CFW. The current exploit we have is a coldboot which takes advantage of before the Switch boots so we can load the CFW or whatever else we want. The only other hope we have are possible warmboot softmods that supposedly work up to 4.1.
Now I understand the whole situatuion way better!
Thank god I'm still on 4.1.0 :switch:

Thanks for the explanation Draxzelex :)

@hallo23 This is just speculation, but Hekate may have just been released to hold us over until Atmosphere is completed. It will become irrelevant as Atmosphere will not just be able to do everything it can, but more while being less buggy. Atmosphere has been in the works since February so I would be really surprised if they overlooked something like functioning in sleep mode. In fact, because the coldboot is lost when the console is turned off, keeping it in sleep mode may be the only way to prevent yourself from having to load the tethered coldboot if you don't have a computer/phone that can launch the appropriate payload. And I am also on 4.1, my brother in Switch hacking. Whenever anybody asks a question, I feel like if you explain the answer rather than just say yes or no, you not only helped someone understand something new but give them the tools to teach others in case they are confused.

Has there been any report of people getting banned right now while running OFW but have used Hekate previously? I'm so paranoid now that I've completely disabled internet connection lol.

Ask yourself this: Is there any difference between being banned and completely disabling your internet connection?

Hi, I've been absent from the Switch scene for a while and I'm not sure what's happened. I'm currently on the latest firmware on my Switch and I'm not sure what's going on. Is the HBL working on 5.x? Has CFW been released? Sorry about this stupid question. I searched the threads to see what's happened but I'm still not sure. Thank you!

You're most likely going to need a "jig" to go into RCM mode, and then run exploits from there in the future. You haven't locked yourself out of homebrew forever, you've just made it a little awkward for yourself.

I stuck around on 4.1, but my damn siblings had to fucking ruin it for me. :/

LOL :P

However there is a difference though, since the latter is voluntarily imposed and I can lift it when I want to. I didn't need any online features when I hacked my Switch. But now I kinda want to buy a new game so I kinda need to re-enable the internet, but don't want to risk a ban.

For reference, I was on 5.0.2 when I used Fusee Gelee and everything worked fine. But you might be missing out somethings or make the process slightly more complicated.

Just so you know, the CFW Atmosphere is planning on being released with EmuNAND support so people can update to the latest firmware to play online while still enjoying all the benefits of hacking via the CFW. Ban risk is still gonna be there, but I'm just letting you know the goal is to utilize hacks without being banned. A lot of people are gonna wait a while after its finished to see if Nintendo does indeed start banning people after they start using it.

First step is booting into RCM. Simply have your Switch turned off, insert the jig, then hold power and vol +. If you don't see the Nintendo logo, congratulations you have entered RCM!

thanks for quick reply....what do I have to do to get the wee reswitched message on screen.. again guys thanks
That will depend on whatever device you have available to send the payload. Do you have a windows computer? Mac? Linux? Android phone? The way you send it will differ based on what you want to use.

I have windows 10 desktop computer 64bit.......if that helps.......cheers
be sure to use the TegraRcmSmash (https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/) for Windows 10 since Fusee Gelee's web launcher doesn't work on Windows. Also be sure to use your USB port 3.0 and a 3.0 USB C cable when connecting your Switch to the PC.
There are several youtube video guides specifically for windows 10 users. For example like this one:
