Stealth patching with ABGX360 [updated 2022]

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

2022: New fork of ABGX, please read the thread and other linked threads in this thread VERY carefully.

ABGX has been moved to a new a new host.
I urge you to read this first!

Since patching with ABGX doesn't only patch the Topology data, it also checks for disc integrity, tampering, video padding, game hashes and more.
I've decided to make this thread to help others setting up ABGX and correctly verifying their backups.

First of all, install ABGX360 by downloading it here (you only need the ABGX appropriate for your OS)
Mirror link here.

After you installed it, launch the ABGX360 GUI and you will be greeted by a screen.
MpVYqEV.jpg

Next, click on "Options" and tick these boxes.
Ev7BjCs.jpg

Next, click on "Autofix" and tick these boxes.
aFEGaHN.jpg

Next, click on "Misc" and tick these boxes.
s1vqgGb.jpg

You'll need to select the corresponding region for ABGX with your console.
Most games are region free but some are region bound.
This will check what region it is or if it's region free.

And to finish setting it up, click on "File" and save the settings as default.
This will ensure you the settings are loaded each time you start ABGX.
KLjMujd.jpg

To load an ISO to check it for stealth, click on the little folder and load your ISO.
Kv6DOTD.jpg

After you selected the ISO, click on launch and sit back a few minutes.
A command line window will pop up and ABGX will be checking everything in the ISO for integrity/stealth and topology data.
lWWsqhm.jpg

The 2 red areas are the most important.
The first one is about the Topology data.
This is VITAL for assuring Stealth on XBLive.
If you don't have your topology data in place then you will be flagged!
ABGX will download this automatically from the server if it's missing/corrupt.

The second red area is about SplitVid.
SplitVid is an old method used to ensure Stealth on XBLive with the old iXtreme 1.4 firmwares.
This might show up yellow but you can ignore it as it's no longer needed ;]

If everything comes up green in ABGX then you've got a correctly patched ISO.
If you're unsure of it, run it again and wait till everything is green.

Newly released ISO's (leaked before release date) will be UNSAFE for XBLive!
ABGX doesn't have a CRC verification in it's data base so please wait until they can be verified!
If you can't wait to play the game then EVERYTHING will be on YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
MS is known to ban people from playing games pre-release!
So if you care about XBLive then wait until the game is verified.

After you've checked your ISO's with ABGX, you'll be clear to proceed with burning it on a disc or copying it to the HDD for your ODDE.

yeah, unless things have changed, altering the region code would make the game non-bootable on a flashed system. you're pretty much at the mercy of the publisher when it comes to that. I'm a pretty big shmup fan, and there are a lot of region free ones, but there are also JP only ones. the 360 is a goldmine for that genre, but a lot of them can't be played unless you own a jtag/rgh.

Right on, thanks guys. I see that there is a lot of misinformation and half info out there. But I can see how a rgh2 would play more games. I just found one link that I have downloaded quite a few games from. Looking to get as close to all of them as possible, if not all of them for ntsc.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Shmups? I just googled that. Very cool looking games. Where to find those I wonder?

RGH makes the console region free yes.
Flashed and Xkey boxes only allow for backup loading of retail discs of the same region.
Luckily, most games are region free by default.

so why can't you run burned disk backups with a hacked x360 without flashing the drive?

ap 2.5 for one. it's designed to block burned discs by sending challenges to the disc drive. if it fails, the disc won't boot. there's also normal ap measures. a flashed drive is basically cfw but on the optical drive. you can't play dlc or xbla games though. I think that they'll show up as corrupted data if you try.

edit: after rereading your post, you still have to open the system in order to flash the drive. an rgh won't magically make this happen. you can get your dvd key, though, via dashlaunch which is part of the process.

The dvd drive has its own separate firmware from the motherboard. It’s a locked cage in a locked box. RGH lets you get the dvd key to patch the firmware, but you still have to actually patch it. Although it’s kinda pointless as you can run any game off of HDD with RGH since all of the security checks are removed. With dvd drive FW flashes, you just remove the disc checks which is why you can still get banned for it if you don’t patch the iso correctly.

wow this is very interesting stuff thanks for the responce. i kinda do wish that there is a way to bypass the dvd drive without opening the dvd drive and flash it.

there is a device called the blaster which uses two boards connected to some wires connected to a unit that goes in the hdd bay. it allows you to flash the drive without opening the console, but you have to open up the console just to install it which defeats the purpose. it's phat only too afaik. I actually owned one for my xenon before it died. I never got a chance to flash the drive since there were no updates atm and my xenon died on me. :(

You still have that Xenon? I’m trying to find one to reball and Jtag. Also, I think AP 2.5 killed the blaster mod, because the USB Pro got released awhile after. Either that or one of the 1479 hardware updates MS did over the course of the 360’s lifespan.

my xenon died. I tried to repair it 3 times. I don't own a refall.reball machine, so I couldn't try that. not worth it though. I now own two falcon jtags and one jasper with a flashed drive. I only have one of the jtags plugged in. it has an xcm shell on it with flashing led lights. :P I don't play any of my 360s though. the death of my xenon made me hesitant to play the 360 at all.

ap 2.5 killed the blaster? I believe my xenon died before that was released. isn't the latest cfw 3.0 lt? I think mine was still on 1.0, so it died long ago. lol ;)

I need one to Jtag to update the sticky thread. It’s easier to find Jtagable falcons, but the Jtag process is different.

Yeah either AP2.5 or a disc drive hardware update killed SATA flashing because you couldn’t get the dvd key anymore. Idk which it was though. I just use a USB Pro and I keep a few unlocked 16d5s boards handy for slims.

Edit: I do have a BGA workstation so idc if it’s red-ringed. I’m reball-equipped and if it needs a chip I have a couple gpu’s from dead cpu boards.

I had put one of those cool-looking ghost shells on my xenon. you could see the disc spin which I really liked. after it died, I kept it in the headboard of my bed. when I cleaned my room a few months ago, I opted to pitch it since I was never going to fix it. it only had the optical drive flashed. I bought the system used, and it wasn't on a hackable firmware for a jtag mod. my two jtags are using different smc mods: one is using the normal smc; the other, the aud clamp one. my main system is using the latter. ;)

Thank you Mr. Dinoh, for the detailed tutorial.

I tried to download the installer, but both links are down, andabgx360(dot)net returns 403-Forbidden.
I was thinking maybe I could skip this step, given that I've checked my isos against redump CRC, MD5, and SHA1 hashes. Now looking at this tutorial, it looks like this program may check it more in depth somehow?
(I don't know what is data vs layout on the disc, etc. etc.)
I was wanting to try it, especially since it can just check an iso, and scan it for any potential trouble.
I haven't located an install for it, though I haven't searched all too hard just yet.
I wonder if their site is down, if their server is still up?
I guess 403 means they still have something up but I'm not granted access?
Post automatically merged:

abgx360 (dot) hadzz (dot) com claims to be the project's new home.
It has listed a newer version v1.07.
The site looks legit, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
I'll wait for feedback here before I use it.
Post automatically merged:

I see now that the newer v1.07, and the new host are mentioned in the link at the top of the tutorial.
Maybe I need to read more and post less.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
