You guys do realize that by the time TX releases this product, Atmosphere will be already able to run on our switches, right?

So? That means people who buy this will have access to both TX CFW and Atmosphere, plus the portable dongle for delivering payloads.

Which is a win win for anyone who can afford a few bucks

Can we still be on the lowest firmware with this but play the games that require higher fw
I would say yes. The CFW is separate.

Atmosphere isn't a complete replacement though, it's just patching Horizon. Playing higher firmware games would require spoofing which only gets you as far as until a game requires libs only available in a new firmware. Further work will have to be done if/when that happens.

That said, I don't think calling Atmosphere a CFW is even accurate. You'll notice they don't say CFW anywhere on the GitHub. It's not a custom firmware, it's a customized firmware.

Who's talking about atmosphere :D

I don't recall anyone saying they're "new". Their practices, atleast for the Switch scene, are just very unsavory.

Same practices that they used 15 years ago. The problem is that our world is now full of grown self entitled babies. And yea read all over the forums. There's tons of people that believe xecuter just came out of nowhere.

Correct and I'm not one bit against this scenario. I'm just pointing to the fact that some ppl are going crazy or exaggerating the notion that TX already has a finished CFW or it's the only alternative for now, when in reality they are just going to start opening pre orders while atmosphere will probably be released by the next month.

what is unsavory about it? the fact they have a working cfw with options that wont be available in atmosphere right off the jump? or they gave us an easy way to not have to use our pc's or android devices to boot up?

These kids will cry over anything nowadays. 99% of them are just repeating what they hear. They are not capable of making their own decisions. Sheep are all over the place.

So you think a $30 chip that does the same exact thing as the $0 solution is better? Really, REALLY sad seeing this kinda talk. Forget ethics, TX is offering a significantly worse product and people are supporting them just because they dont like RS.

Remember, the 3DS scene started getting bad with a device just like this....but this time, we have a free alternative that's way better....#fuckTX

Enjoy wasting $30 as i do the same thing, easier, for F R E E

I can afford 30$ - that's "chump change" as another user put it. I just think it's dumb that anyone would support this when the alternative is free and better in EVERY SINGLE WAY.

Why are people so intent on "calling me out" when i'm just promoting simple facts?

It's open source so probably not, and my jig is just as good as TX's so have fun hoping for nothing skiddo

You do realize you are not helping right?
The its free so its better claim isn't valid. you had to buy the devices to use, and claiming a product is shit that has not been released is weird, how would you know, you haven't seen it. its only teased about so claiming it to be worse then something else just makes you look like the idiot

I'd say the timetables for both are still speculative at this point.

stop just stop this has died down a wile a go a good amount of page's back and we don't need it started up again.

A dongle and the jig. How convoluted does it has to be to get some homebrew going on? I want to turn on my Switch and boot directy into custom firmware, please - without detaching joycon, attaching all kinds of devices. Come on.
You must have started console hacking in the late 3ds days.
I'll tell you bluntly. The 3ds was the holy grail of hackable consoles.
Most other systems don't even get exploits that persist across updates, let alone giving full system access at boot.
The 3ds was one of the few that had persistent coldboot exploits.
With current known exploits we simply can't just turn on the system and have it work.
Maybe you should just be glad it's hacked at all, and stop being so entitled.
If you want it to be persistent to do it yourself, seemshow you seem to think it's so easy to get going.

Let us know when you finish making it!

I mentioned it previously (and now that I am past noobie stage, and can post links), but THESE THINGS are totally hackable, and can run OpenWRT. The only downside is USB-A plug, instead of USB-C plug.

Since the injector can run on linux, it can run on this plug. The plug is powered by the port it connects to, and yes-- that USB port actually does work. (It also has dual Wifi PHYs, and some other goodies like a microSD card slot.

This thing can almost overnight do the exact same injection trick as the eXecutor dongle. In fact, it would be more configurable than their dongle, as it is a whole SoC that is user programmable (after you put the OpenWRT firmware on).

The question I have--- Does RCM mode work while in the dock? If so, just plug this bad boy into the USB-A port in the back of the dock and leave it there.

You haven't looked into atmosphere much have you?
You won't need to spoof firmware, because it will use emuNAND that will be updated to latest firmware. That also means all future games will also work perfectly fine.
Also its not just patching horizon. It also uses fully custom reimplemented versions of certain services, which definitely falls into custom firmware.
