what the switch needs is sd2vita ie a switch version , i would like to keep the SD slot for things like roms and movies big data files for quake doom etc psx iso and what not , set it up like they have done on the PSvita and PSTV all your games COUGH backups can live on the "switch2sd" , leaving the SD card for everything else

But that is really unnecessary when you already have SD slot. If vita used normal SDs, sd2vita wouldn't exist.
If you need multiple "cards", buy 256Gb and maybe someone would make it possible to partition it and show as 2.

in the PSvita the sd2vita takes the place of the game cart, yes the vita dose not have a sd , but why fill up your SD card if you can have "switch2sd" type device for your games ie siting where game carts go with a loader on it to pick you game etc with all the bells etc coverflow etc , if the game needs to install anything it just works as normal ie from the game cart slot, leaving the SD card for all your other things , i can see my self and i bet a lot of other people are thinking this way , filling up with tons of snes gb sega psx roms which can take a lot of space as well movies and tv shows , hell bobs burgers on the go man how good would that be lol, so i can see a need/use for it just because it already has a SD slot , use that a reasoning not to , me like i said would love to keep the SD card for all roms and if i can run games if swith2sd card type thing why not , 2 me it is a good idea

I will never understand this tho. Sorry.
It just doesn't make sense to me when you can just buy a bigger SD.

And it sounds a lot like a flashcard :D

(The only reason why I have sd2vita is, that I don't have to buy overpriced proprietary cards)

i would find it easier to keep track of thing if the games say are on a switch2sd and the rest on SD ie updates DLC hacks mods data folder fro emus etc , the best thing i would say if it was made and you don't like don't use it , me i would i would see a benefit from doing it this way ------ think of it this way , think of it as a HARD DRIVE , like we did on the wii /wii u, they both have a SD slot but we used a HARD DRIVE a switch2sd would work in the same way

What you're describing is a "flashcard", as seen on all nintendo handhelds before...

It annoyed the hell out of me back with the x360 already where I could install games but still need to put the disk in. Isn't it enough that I bought the game already? Just let me play it without jumping through hoops.

MS actually tried to fix this with the XBone's original setup. People flipped out because they only allowed you to sell games through their store at their prices. Someone could easily come up with a better version of this that would allow Game rights to xfer from media to console and back. If it was a cart there could even be an indicator showing that the cart had the game rights included. If installed to the system the cart no longer contains a usable game but could still be used to reload the game.

We don't know how Nintendo reacts to CFW and how fast they will ban - buying on the eShop is the worst you can do because you will loose everything. But this is not a "physcial vs digital" thread and morals should not be discussed here because it's and endless circle.
Unless you get banned from using eShop, its the best way to get digital games, especially now since they are tied to the user's account instead of console.

Then buy them on the eShop. That makes no sense. Either you want to use cartridges or you don't. If you want to use cartridges then use them, if you don't then buy them on the eShop. This will never happen no matter if we have CFW or not. This is not an argument for anything. This is ridiculous. You can redownload them any time you want, you won't have to worry about losing them for 15 years when the servers might be shut down. Firstly you can just copy the data from your SD card to your computer - boom, done, you have an off-line backup. Secondly - that backup will work forever, and the servers are not going to shut down for at least 15 years.

I agree.

I understand not wanting to carry around a bunch of game cards. Losing hundreds of hours of gameplay is worse than losing the $60 game card. I also understand the merits of having a collection.

Digital downloads can't be displayed on a shelf.
For that reason, an eShop purchase just won't cut it.

I'm against Nintendo's DD in general because of their DRM policy (compared to Steam, MS or Sony) and they're usually more expensive than retail anyway.

I only buy DD if I have to or it's extremely cheap (so any losses are minimal).

I'm a dirty pirate, and plan to pirate the entire Switch library. I haven't bought a single 3DS game, I pirated the entire library.

We're going to get piracy on the Switch, and we're going to discuss piracy here(not sharing links ofc :P) and there isn't a damn thing you anti piracy people can do about it, except bitch and moan!
