Hacking questions about updating super slim

recently I got a super slim (can't remember the exact model number it was an odd one) it's currently on system software version 4.80. is there any reason to update? any downsides of updating?
I'm still undecided about the current V3 exploit it seems like a lot of hassle.

From what i have heard,its better if you update since anything that comes out for 4.81 will also come out for 4.82 since both kernels are identical.

As for doing the han exploit,its up to you but the current advantages are ps1,ps2,psp and ps3 backups aswell as xmb mods.

HAN (and the flash writer, if this were a flashable PS3 which it isn't) are designed for 4.82 first anyway
