It's got more software by the virtue of time, but it's not the better gaming device.
.....which makes it a better gaming device. Notice how I said "device" and not "console" (as opposed to "handheld"). Not saying the Switch will never beat the 3DS, and it's not exactly fair competition right now since the 3DS is 6 years older, but all things put aside the 3DS is just better right now.

"Device" tends to reference "hardware," and the 3DS is not better gaming hardware. 3DS has the better software library, Switch is the better gaming device by virtue of its screen, power, controllers, and local multiplayer, among other things.

With Luigi's mansion being on the 3ds, I'm a little worried on what the Virtual console on the Switch will be. Hoping to get some GC games there.
Something tells me that right now Nintendo is focusing on bringing remakes and virtual console games mostly to the 3ds for a while.

Very possible. But again, I also think one of the reasons it's 3DS right now is A) The game was originally ment to be 3D. 2) Like I said, they already had the assets and engine to do it, where they would have had to make a new engine for the Switch.

I just think the reason that it came out on 3DS... is because they already had the engine from Dark Moon.

Would be my guess, also one can only hope GameCube would be part of Switch Virtual Console whenever that finally happens and could just play the game that way.

Either way until the 3DS is dead the Switch fan base is mostly going to scream they want "X" game on Switch, I haven't picked up a Switch yet so I'm quite happy to see the 3DS still get games I want, in an ideal world they would put games out on 3DS/Switch like Captain Toad if its feasible that way both audiences get to play the game, I imagine 3DS still has a way bigger user base.

I know I'd be happy if the next main line Fire Emblem game came to 3DS even if its like a down port of Switch, at least I could play it till I eventually buy a Switch.

the 3ds one only looks worse then the gamecube one because of the screen if you were to run it on cirta it would look as good as the gamecube one yes the 3ds is less power ful then the gamecube in ways but it has more ram.

Honestly.. if I'm going to play Luigi's mansion right now, I'll just emulate the NGC game.

Now if Dark Moon was emulatable.

The switch is a horrible gaming system. I'm sorry, it needs to be said. Let's put aside the lack of software, third party support, and the fact that it's greatly underpowered for it's gen, but it is also piss-poorly designed. Assuming you manage to get a console that doesn't scratch or lose controller connectivity under it's own poor design, all you really have is a tablet excuse to re-re-re-release the same old shit on vc. To be angry that a game was ported to a better and more practically priced gaming system is just silly. You'll have plenty of other watered down ports.

why did it not come out a year after luigis mansion 2
why did titanfall come out on 2006 if it runs on source engine? because it just wasnt in development, projects arent started because of the engine, not to mention that the 2 luigi's mansion games arent the only games they worked on

Dude, I said it's going to look like ass, and you responded with how it's going to not look like ass on the 3ds. That I'm just misjudging based on how it looked on the big TV, and how it'll look perfectly fine since it's on a small screen. You're the one picking a fight.

I have a 3ds. I've played the downports. Please open your ears and understand that they look terrible to me. I notice all the terribleness. They're playable, but they're obviously inferior and are equivalent to n64 graphics. It doesn't matter how small you make the screen, the graphics aren't going to look better. *~some people just don't notice it as much~*.

Please understand you're arguing about visual acuity at a distance, and I'm telling you I can still tell.
To be fair, the 3DS looks WAY better than anything the N64 could put out. In fact, many games are on the level of some of the best looking games on GC/Wii in terms of graphics quality (disregarding the obvious resolution difference)
And even the worst looking 3DS games look better than anything the N64 could put out, obviously excluding the games that are intentionally made with simple graphics.
3DS has some pretty good looking games, however ports however tend to not push the limits of what the 3DS is capable of.

The switch is a good handheld device but a horrible home console. It is the price to pay when you are a hybrid console. Since they aim to market it as a home console, they get vastly reduced quality games and ports for the portability. The portable mode limits the potential of every game designed for home console. Handheld mode is a double edge sword.
