I'm buying a used Switch (Zelda+Pokken+Doom+Kart) for 350€, is there something I should look for about account, parental control and possible bans, or faulty hardware? (I don't think there are bans yet but I don't know how the hacking scene is doing).

Sorry for bad English

There are a few things you want to look out for. As Pip mentioned, the biggest thing is checking to make sure the Joycons aren't loose. Even if they are, it's an easy fix, but you may be able to haggle the price down a bit if they are. Check for scratches and that the dock works properly. There are reports of devices being used with Nyko charging docks and destroying the ports, so make sure it charges. Ask about parental locks to make sure there's nothing on it.

Don't buy the switch if the peeps are selling it with digital content. There have been people who have done this, and had the account on the switch reported as hacked. They lose all of their digital games they paid for so try to stick with physical cartridges. Check for missing paint or dents on the corners. This is usually indicative of drops. Also make sure that you can load all of the games they give you before you take it. It might take a while if they're selling you multiple games, but they shouldn't have a problem if there's nothing wrong.

As for the obvious, don't give them cash upfront. Make sure the system works first and you've done all your checks. If they feel more comfortable doing it for you, let them.

what is the fix for the loose joy cons? we got another switch in the house and now i keep thinking mine are loose.

Quick fix I'd you're not the "open the device" type would be tape. Five layers of scotch and one layer of electrical be tape on the bottom of connection area (of the console). You can use less tape depending on how loose your joy con is.

All went well

Zelda was digital copy but he was fair and gave me his account (changed both email and password so it's mine now), also I received a 32 GB Samsung SD card UHS-1 and it had screen protector, there aren't dead pixels and left joycon hasn't give me trouble. I noticed Switch dock is a bended one and I fixed it inserting some thin books and heated for some minutes with hairdryer, I could notice some "scratches" if I marked the sides of Switch with hand's fat.

I would do everything you can to secure his account. If he suddenly decides he wants it back, it would be easy to fake him being the owner if none of the security questions or other personal identifiable information is the same. You'll also want to make sure he's not using the NNID with any other products otherwise you could find yourself paying for things you don't want.

those are pretty good games and that is a good price.
well you should obviously check on the console thoroughly before purchasing it.

good luck.

this is excellent information. i've recently posted a thread regarding something along these lines with a lost-and-found switch. where did you read about this and where can i find more information regarding similar situations and what results from such a happening? very much appreciate this tip and looking forward to reading more about situations like this specifically. all the thanks in the world!

I read that if you want to use a NNID on another switch you must log off from the first one, so he can't do much, I also removed all active logins from the web panel, there isn't any chance, he was kind.

Nah 350 is a good price with those games
Also had the SD and screen protection that is worth 25€, I found that he also bought Kamiko from eshop, other 4,99 € worth, the console has gamestop's one year extended warranty (50€); people here usually ask 250€ for used switch without games, and 40€ for used games.

He needed money quickly to buy a ps4 for Monster Hunter

I think you got a good deal.
Kamiko is pretty great (short though)
You should also pick up Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.

If I were youd Id check how dusty the console is. Some people dont take care of their consoles and treat them like shit.
Check the back air ventilations shafties and see if its really dusty.
You never know :)

Picked up Super Mario Odyssey to play coop with my girlfriend, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (40€ each) and Mario Rabbids (30€) , I have a gaming PC so it's painful to play FPS on console but the DOOM port is interesting for platform comparison (I'm waiting the new update to play it), I'm not interested in online multiplayer on switch, maybe if they release Monster Hunter XX...

Splatoon controls very well with dual analogs + motion combined. I would even say it's more precise than a mouse + keyboard.

If the guy had screen protection + extra warranty, I would asume he take good care of his stuff.

Please never say again that motion is MORE precise, or even AS GOOD AS mouse because this is just a stupid idea, like global warming doesn't exist, or vaccines cause harm, NO. NO. NO.

I experienced motion control first time on Ocarina of Time for 3DS and it was nice, also in BotW is nice for little adjustments, imho all FPS on console should use it, it's intuitive and precise (if you aren't on train or bus), but one thing is a single player game where I just relax, the other one is online competition, when I play online I want to play at my best, mouse is the best pointing system for comfort, precision and user friendly

Maybe I'll buy it when someone will release drivers for mouse+keyboard on switch ;)
