I picked up a black new 3ds , the one with the mario faceplate, to resell but it just has one issue. The screen is really loose i know the normal amount of give from the new 3ds xl and the new 2ds, but on this one its kind of absurd. the system open is almost entirely straight, just bent enough so its not parallel with the shoulder buttons. I just want to know if thats normal or if i have to repair the system. I've never had a non xl new 3ds so i have nothing to compare to

Can you take a side picture of the N3DS? The angle should be like this when it clicks to medium level:

It should click three times. The highlighted red gap shouldn't be there. Check that it's not the back plate that's loose versus the top LCD casing halves are separated.

Check for signs of worn or slightly stripped screws. That last picture looks like someone tampered and pried the 3DS. They probably attempted to fix the hinges, gave up, and suckered you into buying their broken system.

I don't think you can fix the hinge. There are notches that fit into place and hold the screen into their positions. The ones at the neutral setting probably snapped off. It's not something that glue can fix. Opening the 3DS to attempt repair has a high chance of breaking the flex cables making the system even more broken. Your best bet is to sell the system as-is with the warning that everything works save for the hinge.

To add to this statement, repairing the hinge and top housing is not difficult so long as you are gentle and patient. This issue is taken care of by replacing the top housing. The hardest part is being gentle and wrestling the top lcd ribbons into their respective spots. Everything else is easy.
