This is just a wild guess but what will happen if he puts a homebrew that autoboots to homemenu like nnupatcher in the directory of mocha and names it like the mocha elf file. Hopefully it will boot into homemenu and he can synchronize his gamepad with his Wii U

just wondering is the mocha config file stored on the SD card? (I'm not to familiar with mocha), it seems like the controller has just become unpaired and the mocha startup screen is meaning he cant get back to the controller sync screen

have you tried removing the sd card to see if it gets ant further

Sounds like a hardware failure. I don't know how the gamepad syncs, but I imagine it is through Bluetooth like the Wiimotes. I think the Wii U has 2.4/5.0Ghz wireless built in with the Bluetooth module, so you'll have to replace the whole thing.

It could also be that the Bluetooth module died in the gamepad, but that isn't likely if you cannot sync a Wiimote either.
This is Wildly offtopic at this point I know but:
AFAIK Wii U has bluetooth which it uses with some accessories, Wiimotes and Pro Controllers, while the Wii U gamepad uses custom 5ghz Wlan like radio frequency connection, because of all the extra data that goes between Wii U and the gamepad; Video, Sound, touchscreen, vibration and control data, and it needs the latency to be none with those.

TL;DR: It would be potentially possible unless it is indeed in same part; that one Wii U could have broken bluetooth but gamepad could still work, or other way around.

Exactly^^^^ it hangs -3
this means you have to eject/reinsert the SD card until the -3 won't happen anymore.

back when all things Wii U hacking were SD card related, I would have the SD card mounting problems left and right since I would be constantly ejecting it to get new hax on it, game files onto it, and so on, and keep inserting it back to Wii U. A lot of times I would need to reinsert the SD card enough that these days whenever I insert a SD card to a Wii or Wii U I am not just pushing it in, I am pushing it down/up about three times and then firmly back down to just be 90% sure it will mount next time (and 10% of the time I still need to reboot and remount as I get to homebrew)

With 3DS, can't remember did I have any instances where this happened with Wii U; I even could insert the SD card in so that the console would boot, downloaded titles and other data the nintendo's own system mounts would work, as would homebrew launcher by SMEA, but then a homebrew from that point say some kind of dumper or something like that, would error out into a "No SD card detected" - basically, or other hangup in stuff that would be fixed after ejecting and reinserting the microSD better - which is extra fun thing to finally realize with a N3DS as getting back to the SD slot is a screwdriver away and main reasons why for longest time I would keep back plate of a N3DS or N3DS XL removed for about whole mod process when it needed more swapping of data, and you had to deal with stuff like homemenu hax that was extra finnicky about SD card placement in my experience.

TL;DR: Eject/reinsert your SD card and maybe do it few times - Nintendo SD card readers do not always make the SD connection entirely.

yeah the point is he needs to sync the controller and the mocha config screen is preventing this, he needs to edit the config file to make it autoboot into the system menu so he can then sync his controller

look on your SD card at what the config.txt file in /haxchi/ folder has as the default option

When to eject and when to reinsert sd card?
When the power is turned off.
You do not want -3

I would be sharing my config file for Haxchi, if I had not taken my Wii U SDHC with me to use it to install stuff for friends' Wii U consoles, and then promptly forgot it there and still have not gone to get it back. (I could have taken it back yesterday and just forgot about it FFS) - I cannot really use my Wii U like Iw ant to before I get that thing back.

Try locating your mocha.elf on your SD Card.
Download nnupatcher (https://github.com/dibas/nnupatcher-hbl/releases)
Extract the zip file and rename nnupatcher.elf into mocha.elf
Replace the renamed mocha.elf with the mocha.elf on your SD Card (make a backup of the SD Card mocha.elf file so you can replace them again after synchronizing your Gamepad)

I dont have config.txt file in haxchi folder but i have it in mocha folder

[mocha]viewMode=0directLaunch=0launchImage=0noIosReload=0launchSysMenu=1redNAND=1seeprom_red=1otp_red=1syshaxXml=0

Try replacing the bold number and the save the file viewMode=0directLaunch=1launchImage=0noIosReload=0launchSysMenu=1redNAND=1seeprom_red=1otp_red=1syshaxXml=0

@Sumea & @gamesquest1 the haxchi config file is useless. It just gets read when you install haxchi. after that its not used anymore

You literally saved my wii u. Thank you very much.

But now there is one more problem. Entering into vWii. Will try, hope wont be data corrupt again

ok yeah I'm not too familiar with the wiiu setup, was just looking to see where his mocha elf was to swap it out for a different cfw so he could sync his controller, he will probably be ok from here I guess XD

EDIT:- too slow XD

good luck with vwii stuff.

Ok guys it isnt over yet...video soon...short: cant go to wii u menu. It freezes.

When i eject sd card after autoboot and is trying to go to wiiu menu warrning message shows on wiiu pad, that there is no nand detected, sd format and complete nand dump required. Press the power button to format sd card. I eject sd card and press power button and it writes detected 8 gb mlc nand type. Sd card read failed. Then wiiu restart itself.

And thank yall who are trying to help.

I have nand.bin 540.673 KB
and keys.bin

Sorry i was using ipad with one hand.

Is there any tutorial to restore Nand?

Im noob at this...im not sure if this nand is from wiiu or vWii or is it the same.
That's for vWii not Wii u. Now that you have it working go backup the Wii u nand post haste

Now i bricked wiiu. I was able to go to wiiu menu in sysmenu and tried to run haxchi but it freezed. I was trying to go to HL to dump wiiu nand, but with no luck, so I decided to factory reset it while CBHC installed.

Now, I boot to an error screen. Error Code: 160-0101

Im officially screwed with no backup nand and bricked wiiu. bummer
