Does that come with time travel as well?
But seriously i dont expect much from this unless piracy already runs rabid on the switch.

It won't need to run rampant for them to act. Revealing a coldboot exploit, of all things, this early will fire-off alarm bells for Nintendo and they will look into options to hunt it down and fix it.

You seem sure adamant of homebrew not being a thing, almost resentful. Spare us your lectures and save it for 4chan, no one cares.

No idea, I don't know what the bug is itself other than its something to do with the bootloader/boot sequence. The boot can be ipatched at factory, no hardware revision necessary but we don't know if that is enough to fix it. It could be a serious issue that has to have hardware changed, it could not.

I assume that to be marketing bull. Its unpatchable on current systems, not on future systems. Its the best kind of marketing, "technical marketing".
Gotta say, you're being abnormally pessimistic about this ordeal.

Here comes the Slim Switch. it will be paper thin and foldable so you cannot fit a mod chip in it.
they might do the opposite of a slim release and go bigger console with upgraded specs

These forms of exploits are extremely rare, even with nVidia fucking up. They don't grow on trees.

People jumping on it now, because everyone knows, means Nintendo knows. And a bunch of people potentially interested in telling Nintendo know.
it could be that the TX solution is not even HW patchable or would be really difficult to patch
everyone thought N would lock hit down when N3ds was released and look how much more was found that work on both old and new HW
the devs had been looking into the system for a long time
they might do the opposite of a slim release and go bigger console with upgraded specs
new nintendo switch, with TWO dedicated titles ! TWO !

Marcan had said he wasnt gonna hack his switch. I guess it was too tempting for him to resist. Marcan and co. are amazing. I wonder if they will ever release it.
Probably not, maybe just to fuck over the possible mod chip, but I dunno, they been assholes with their exploits since the Wii, (which btw they tryed to get Nintendo to patch that before they talked about it) Now it's their work, so they can do what they want with it, and it's their choice.

Wtf a few weeks ago we had a priv 1.0.0 kernel and a pub 3.0.0 userland.... and now we expecting a hard mod plus this one here.... the scene is moving fast this time...:grog:
The switch userbase is getting really big, and you gotta remember it's pretty much an Android tablet, this time frames about right, probably piracy in the next 3-4 months.

The switch is not pretty much an "android tablet" :I

I wouldn't say I am being pessimistic. This will cause progress but it comes at a, potentially, large price if what I think will happen, happens. Worst part, if this can be ipatched, we won't even know until someone buys a new Switch and suddenly can't do anything.

Bootloader bugs just aren't something you really want revealed <1 year in and even less so when the reason is because someone just wants to make a quick buck.

Ideally it will take a while with a lot of anti-piracy layers in what the devs make, but of course the rush is always towards warez/piracy garbage.

In the end although their starting to care (there probably WILL be online bans) I don't think Nintendo cares.
