What I'm saying is... with those sales, and the desperate need of Nintendo to constantly make Hardware revisions each year... do not expect cool titles for the system.

But there ARE tons of cool titles coming, even if they are mostly gonna be Japan only

Where are you getting these numbers from?
The 3DS has sold over 60+ million units

TBH the 3DS is very outdated right now. The Nintendo Switch will replace the 3DS soon. Nintendo's plan is to sell NSW both as a console and a handled.

True, what really decides whether a console is dead or not nowadays is actually the online servers, when those are shut down, then it will be officially dead and we got a LONG time until that happens!

There is some truth to that. But you might not actually have more than a couple years or so before the servers shut down. Since the Switch doesn't have backwards compatibility we might not even have that much time. Remember they shut down the Wii/DS servers even though both of their current consoles had BC with each of the two respectively. Once they deem the 3DS as dead (as in, no more games coming out and they've stopped production) there will be nothing holding them back from shutting down the servers, which could be a year from now if we're unlucky.

Worth noting that Online services of DS and Wii were closed so quick mostly because of the GameSpy (main operator of their online servers) sudden death. If not this, probably it would be online at least 1-2 years more.

And about 3DS... it's hard to say how long it will be alive. We have few middle-shelf titles planned for 2018, and Nintendo claims that they want to maintain 3DS as a cheap console for younger players so probably there will be later a flood of shovelware and "kids-friendly" platformers, with maybe few JRPGs and interesting titles here and there.

I mean, even without any new titles it still has a very huge library of quality games, and there's backwards compatibility, VC releases and the ideal portable machine to turn it into emulator box with CFW so... yeah, it's worth buying it now, it's pretty good console that will be useful even without official support.

Considering the Japanese releases are scheduled to be going on up until February 2019, we got at least that long plus 1-2 months give or take. However, you are right, there's not really much time, but my point is about it not being dead yet and for a good while though.

Coming to? It has long been dead if you think about it, locking the system more and more (exploit patching) and taking away functions from it (miiverse) isn't support at all!

In that case it wasn't their choice, the "Nintendo" Wi-Fi Connection was hosted and mainly designed by Gamespy who decided out of their business freedom to quit

Of course, WiiConnect24 and Miiverse were not by Gamespy...
Of course, if they had planned a custom server option in their games and released the software... (there would have been less cheaters in public matches? but altwfc and wiimmfi do what nintendon't)

The above mentioned projects were created out of very rushed research once they announced the end of WFC. Prerequisite of such research was the NoSSL patch, which we have (at the system level too) for 3DS, but there's been no such research to date

Where did you get those numbers?, the 3ds system family have sold about 69 million units so far, and it only had 5 revisions if you can call them that: 3DSXL, N3DS, N3DSXL, 2DS, N2DSXL.

I was think about buy myself a 2DS XL however, if I check the Game Release list, it looks mostly dead to me. Only 3 Games are planed to be released. No new "cool" Title are announced. Did they stopped game Production for 3DS and move to switch? I through they want run both.

You could say that the 3DS game library is almost complete, so if you're not interested in playing the games that are already out or the ones that are yet to be released, then don't buy it.

espesially considering that they are changing to a subscription service for internet service, the 3ds is the odd ball out there as the last system they are still supporting that has free internet

The last shovel knight expansion, King of Cards, looks to be pretty awesome.
I know it's been ported to everything except toasters, but I believe the 3ds is the game's true home.
