would it be possible to use the internals of a n3ds LL on a N3dsXL case for expanded room inside it for hardmoding? I'm just curious as to all the things that could be done with that extra room if its even feasable.

If you're talking about normal n3ds, then maybe. I don't think there will be more room though because i think the difference is only the screen size (not sure).

The LL is the Japanese XL, so it's the exact same model. Also, if you want O3DS insides in a N3DSXL case, it won't work because things have been mad slimmer, the screen is bigger and positions of things have changed. What kind of "hardmodding" are you even trying to do?

I had no i dea the LL was the japanese model, actually clears up alot of confusion for me. i thought the LL was to the XL as the o3ds is to the o3dsxl. I haven't tried any hard modding yet i was just curious as to what options would be opened up by such a thing, like does it add enough space to add another battery (albiet a small one) or card readers, speakers you name it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

so on the https:/ /3ds.guide/get-started website it shows a new 3ds and a new3dsxl, is that capable of it or does that still go under the, things have been moved and is thus not doable. sorry if the question is reduntant i really don't know much of how these things are put together as i've never tore one apart

What is capable of what?:/

Also, hardmodding for CFW doesn't take any more space than there already is, you literally just solder 3 little cables and that's all...

By hardmodding he means he wanted to add another hardware (battery, speaker, ports, etc)

Just my guess because i don't have regular n3ds either, i think the components will be the same as n3ds xl except the screen for n3ds. So the placement will be same as your current system, unless you can mod the shell to fit your need and for that just mod your current system, no need to buy regular n3ds.

There's no reason to hardmod if you just want bigger battery, get one of same size and voltage, but with higher Amperes and that's all. No need to change anything other than the battery itself. To add card readers, speakers, etc., you need to MODIFY the actual motherboard, which goes WAY beyond hardmodding.

Again, it's not that simple. The components are different in order to accommodate the bigger screens or stronger processor (depending on what model we are talking about). It's not as simple as replacing everything but the screen and it will work. They LOOK similar on the inside, but they are very different.

Well i'm just guessing, and i think the components won't be much different. And i said to just mod the shell to fit his need rather than swapping the components. Depending on your definition of hardmodding modifying the motherboard is hardmodding.

The change in the button location, points where the motherboard has the screwholes and where the case has them, different size screen, different thickness of the case, etc., makes it impossible without modifying the motherboard. Also, modifying is NOT hardmodding, as you don't really mod anything, but rather make something from scratch. It's really not worth it. For more battery, he can just get a better battery, that's all.
