Alright, I've searched through several of these types of threads and still don't see any solution in sight.

So my nephew recently discovered his old Wii. The Wii in question cannot read discs anymore so I figured I'd hack his Wii so that he could load off of an HDD. This means I ABSOLUTELY need letterbomb to hack it.

However:
  • I typed in the correct MAC addressed
  • I formatted the system memory
  • I placed all the files in the correct place on the SD card
  • I tried scrolling through a WHOLE YEAR's worth of days to find this letter
  • I've tried 3 different SD cards: two 2GB SD cards (one is even an official Nintendo SD card) and a 4GB SD card
  • I've tried formatting the SD cards to Fat16 and Fat32
  • I've tried using the please.hackmii site with firefox and google chrome
  • I've turned wiiconnect24 on and off
  • I've played a game to get a log in the message board
  • I updated until it told me I couldn't anymore
  • I'm selecting 4.3U on please.hackmii
  • The date and time ARE correct on the Wii

Seriously, what am I doing wrong? Are some Wiis just unhackable?

Did you look at this. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bannerbomb
All Wi'is are hackable.

"No version of Bannerbomb works on System Menu 4.3 or newer; use LetterBomb, Smash Stack, Indiana Pwns, Bathaxx or Return of the Jodi instead."
Is this a lie then?

Already tried everything in this thread and like the 5 others with the same issue. Is there some trick I'm missing?

Banner no, letter yes.
Well then I can assure you with 100% certainty, I filled out my credentials perfectly and placed the file and private folder in the root of the SD cards. The time on the Wii is accurate and I waited quite awhile before scrolling back and forth between days.

Try this. Yes I know you formatted the SD cards before but try it with all 3 SD card:

Also do the following in a Windows PC with your SD card inserted:

1. Open CMD as admin
2. type "diskpart"
3. type "list disk"
4. type "select disk X" where X is the number of your SD card
5. type "clean"
6. type "convert mbr"
7. type "create partition primary"
8. type "format fs fat32 quick"
9. type "assign"
10. all done copy paste the letter bomb files.

If it still doesn't work tell me your MAC address lemme use the website to generate the files then I'll upload it to google drive and share it.

Also stupid thing to say but make sure your Wii actually is 4.3U not other region.

And on 4.3 Bannerbomb will not work.

OK, can you please confirm the system version, please make sure it's 4.3, if not post back here.
According to the link to the topic about this issue people say try different cards.
You are turning the system off before you insert/eject the card?
Could I bother you for a screen shot of the card or a directory list of the SD card.

CMD as Admin
tree /f /a SDCardLetter: C:\Tree.txt
Copy contents of C:\Tree.txt here.

If you read the OP I clearly mention that I've tried 3 cards. 1 of them an official Nintendo SD card. I also said I updated till Nintendo said there was nothing to update and I even checked just now, yes it's on 4.3U.

As for the SD card:
E:\private\wii\title\HAEA\264491C5\D2EAD444\2017\10\11\06\28\HABA_#1\txt\219954F7.000

When the SD card is plugged into the Wii, make sure to check system storage so that the SD card appears as a storage device, if it does not, the SD card is improperly formatted, or the SD card reader is dead.

EDIT: Where did you find your MAC address for the Wii?

Welp, just tested my SD card on my own Wii. They're recognized and aren't on the other Wii... Thanks for the help... Guess it's just a bricked Wii after all.
