Nah, there's nothing in there. I tried wiping it too. Guess the whole thing just died.

Yes, unfortunately, all current exploits are based upon booting a file on an SD card
I'm not really upset, I just feel bad I couldn't get my nephew his Wii back... I'll probably just buy him a new one and surprise him for Christmas.

What were you going to use the homebrew for?

Since he couldn't play off of the discs, I'd give him an HDD with all of his games backed up on it to load off of USB Loader. He already knows about it since he plays off of my Wii most of the time.

Good luck finding a Wii! (Preferable a white one so you can restore in the case of a brick)
One last question, why specifically do you/your son choose the Wii?
I already see a couple on ebay right now. As for why I chose a Wii? Well, my nephew used to have his old one up until it couldn't read discs. Lately he's been playing a ton of old Gamecube/Wii games on mine so I figured he'd appreciate one that works.

With a hacked Wii U, you can put Wii U homebrew for Wii U games off HDD, and vWii homebrew for Wii games and Gamecube games.

Several problems though
1. Wii U is more expensive
2. Input lag in Melee (He plays somewhat competitively)
3. No gamecube controller support for Wii games

Hope this isn't considered a necro bump but do still have the semi-broken wii?
If you do can it connect to the internet?
If so I MIGHT be able to help get homebrew on it. Without an sd card.

I pretty sure it can connect to the internet. What did you have in mind?
I've been working on an Internet Channel exploit for a while now and just recently got it to boot a payload. I'm still working on getting it to load something that isn't on an sd card but I should have that done soon.

Proof of Concept here (Sorry for the shitty quality video but my tv really doesn't like being recorded):

I'd be very much interested. It'd be a great present for my nephew if the USB ports of all things aren't dead somehow.
