That what you're saying sounds like Nintendo marketing BS! Fake as F! Embrace new, embrace a change... Seriously, to embrace a fing Dino??? Mario Dino with sh!it graphics textures from 1990?.
You go ahead and continue to replay Super Mario Galaxy on Dolphin with increasing resolution and possibly higher quality textures as the future unfolds, doesn't bother me. As for myself, I'm going to play something new and inviting and amazing so I'm not playing the Nth iteration of a game concept that keeps repeating itself every few years.

I was actually disappointed when Twilight Princess finally had a new villian, only be chopped off suddenly at the end for Ganon to yet again show up.

Nobody was talking about Legend of Zelda...
I was talking about repetitiveness.

and Mario has always been the one to embrace change dude, remember super Mario 64? ya know, the FIRST one to make the jump to 3D worlds, which by the way, was a smash hit?
and please tell me, when has graphice EVER been a concern for Nintendo?

Every Nintendo franchise has been used as an excuse to try out new ideas over the years. None more than Mario, though, and that should go without saying. He's played every sport, been a doctor, an animal trainer, held parties, beat the living shit out of people in SSB, etc. Mario has been everything and everywhere, this is far from his first time outside of the Mushroom Kingdom. Though Mario x Rabbids takes place there if you're really yearning for a return.

Why is there a city with real people?

They aren't necessarily real people, Game Theory has an interesting video about this. The thought is that they were inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom, but living in New Donk City there's a diet made up primarily of Donkey Kong's power bananas. This causes them to grow much taller than they would've been otherwise. Even if this isn't what Nintendo was going for, Mario has always included real-life themes and it's stylized to make you forget about them.

It seems more like a mario theme park world than the actual mushroom kingdom.

Because it's not the Mushroom Kingdom, it's Mario traveling all over the "Earth" that the Mushroom Kingdom exists on. Just like both Galaxy and Sunshine were outside the Mushroom Kingdom.

That's true, the gimmicks are not exactly exclusive to mario. But the zelda series for example still follows largely the same dungeon exploring formula, and metroid has generally remained within it's genre of shooting stuff with very metriodvania like exploration. Now this game will probably feature good old fashioned platforming, and a bit of collecting as well, so it's not really that big of difference as far as game play is concerned, so probably not even that relevant of a complaint to begin with.

I actually went and watched that video just after posting here. Even when you account for size the features the regular humans have are completely different from characters like mario and peach, they have regular angular faces. The banana idea is a real stretch in my mind.

Real cities existing around the mushroom kingdom just seems odd to me, I have always thought of the mushroom kingdom as another world entirely from earth. I guess mario could be an alien, but again that seems really unfitting for mario.

Why, its awesome nintendo brings something 'new' instead all of those remakes and little changes. Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone and embrace new things.

I personally prefer when a genre is perfected instead of being moved past. I know this is nintendos niche of course, but that doesn't change the fact that I want what I want just because that's what they do. Not hoping to change anything, just ranting.

Super respect to you, I am fond of the way you worded this, especially the last part.

Or just a midget/dwarf, since even Peach and Luigi are a fair bit taller than Mario. Which is probably why you can possess a person in Odyssey too, Nintendo wanted to let Mario feel tall for a while.

Can't wait for this, I preordered it a while back but sadly I'll be in Singapore when it launches so I won't get my preorder until I come back a few days later. I'll just play Zelda in the meantime and try to 100% it.

Ugly, stupid and hideous. Ah, just throw in whatever comes to your mind, kiddies will embrace it all, Nintendo told them so.
What kind of person wouldn't put a T-Rex in a world where you can possess anything? A horrible kind of person IMO, glad you don't work at Nintendo.

Nobody said Zelda was repetitive. That makes absolutely no sense to mention a series which lacks plot repetitiveness and compare it to a series which does.
Wait, which series are you talking about? Both Mario and Zelda have the same repetitive aspects to their plots. Unless we're talking about another game I missed in this conversation?

"Assist Mode" What a fricking joke dude, somehow making casual games even more casual =|

And this is coming from the same company who released Breath of the Wild which I felt didn't have as much handholding as all the previous 3D Zelda games xd

Zelda is absolutely not repetitive in plot, which is why his comment makes no sense in response to mine.

In Zelda, very rarely is the call to adventure and plot about "saving the princess". The Zelda developers actually seem pretty aware people stereotype the series as one where you just "save the princess" and, with each newer iteration, make it obvious that Zelda tends to only help Link reach his goal rather than be his goal.

Zelda 1: Save Hyrule from the resurrected Ganon
Zelda 2: Save Zelda
Link to the Past: Save Hyrule (Zelda, amongst many other girls, were necessary to save Hyrule and assisted Link)
Link's Awakening: Awaken the Windfish (no Zelda or Hyrule at all lol)
Ocarina of Time: Save Hyrule from Ganon (Zelda tells Link how to save Hyrule and helps with songs, ends up being kidnapped for being a triforce bearer)
Majora's Mask: Retrieve Majora's Mask (Zelda's ocarina is used)
Oracle of Ages: The triforce sends Link to Labrynna, must save Nayru
Oracle of Seasons: The triforce sends Link to Holodrum, must save Din (Zelda shows up if you link both games for shits and giggles)
Four Swords: Much like Link to the Past, save the sages (Zelda is one of them again and helps telepathically)
Four Swords Adventures: Again, save the sages (Zelda is one and helps telepathically)
Wind Waker: Rescue little sister, Reassemble Triforce, and Defeat Ganon (Hyrule is abandoned, "Zelda" helps defeat Ganon with you)
The Minish Cap: Defeat Vaati after he petrified Zelda, save Hyrule
Twilight Princess: Defeat Zant, Defeat Ganon (Zelda is a support role again)
Phantom Hourglass: "Zelda" is kidnapped by Ghost Ship, Defeat Bellum
Spirit Tracks: Defeat Malladus, Get Zelda back into her body (Zelda follows you around in a suit of armor Full Metal Alchemist-style I shit you not)
Skyward Sword: Never played much, but call to adventure is to save the kidnapped Zelda
Link Between Worlds: Zelda tells Link to collect pendants just like hers, Defeat Yuga to save both Hyrule and Lorule
Breath of the Wild: Save Hyrule from Ganon (Zelda support role once again)

You're not seeing the repetitive constants in your listing? There are definitely Zelda games that did something different, and those are among my personal top rated Zelda games, but Mario has games that did something different, too. The list, though, consists of a lot of "Save Hyrule/the Princess/Defeat Ganon."

Zelda 1: Save Hyrule, Defeat Ganon
Zelda 2: Save the Princess, Defeat Ganon
Zelda LttP: Save Hyrule, Defeat a new enem- oh never mind turns out to be Ganon
Link's Awakening: Awesome game, nothing to do with the previous installments, really.
Ocarina of Time: Save Hyrule, Defeat Ganon
Majora's Mask: Barely anything to do with previous series, an amazing game.
Oracle of Ages/Seasons: Didn't play these, wasn't much in that era of Zelda.
Four Swords: A side spin off of LttP, so it's automatically different with the concept. Same with Adventures.
Wind Waker: Save new Hyrule, Defeat Ganon.
Minish Cap: Save Hyrule
Twilight Princess: Awesome, a new villi- ugh never mind hi again Ganon. Save Hyrule.
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks: Also two great games because they don't repeat stuff.
Skyward Sword: Save Hyrule, Save the Princess
Link Between Worlds: Save Hyrule
Breath of the Wild: Save Hyrule, Save the Princess, Defeat Ganon

I listed exactly why each one is different. Alongside differing gameplay in each game, each Zelda game is unique.

Mario never strays from the damsel in distress. Especially in the last few games. There's a reason why the Legend of Zelda series is more popular than Mario right now. Link is a hero of all.

I think the only time Mario helped more than a single person at once is in Paper Mario. Sadly, Intelligent Systems seems to be focusing efforts on their Fire Emblem games than Paper Marios anymore.

Mario back at it again with the "oh no Peach was kidnapped" plot.
