Not given an IP after bridged connection

Hello, I've bridged the connection between my laptop and original xbox, while successful, I'm not given an IP for my xbox.

I'm trying to FTP to my xbox from another computer while using my laptop as a source for my original xbox to connect to.

You need to give it a ip manually in windows and on the xbox.

So in this case I'd do this with the bridged connection?

After doing this I move to the xbox and change it as well but I'm not able to make any connection with filezilla.

You need to change it on the xbox aswell.

Assign an IP address manually for both the LAN adapter on your laptop and your xbox. I think you should use a different subnet (for example 192.168.2.x) and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 so there are no conflicts.

I have, both on the pc and xbox. After doing so I go to settings and start the ftp but I'm not getting any response from my ftp software.

You'll probably also need to set the default gateway on the xbox to the IP you set on the laptop and maybe set the DNS on the xbox manually. (you can use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, it's google DNS)

I did, pinging resulted in request timed out. I dunno what the hell is going on lol.

Are you using a crossover cable or a patch cable?
Iirc the original XBOX doesn't have Auto MDIX

I'm actually using my xbox 360 ethernet cable.

I used it to play on x link before so I figured it'd do the job.

Than chances are high it's a patch cable, which won't work for a direct connection between two devices where one doesn't support Auto MDIX.

If you have a Switch or Internet router, you can use this as your connection "hub".

I'll connect to my router then. Was trying to keep this in my bedroom but I'll go that route. Thanks everyone for helping me out.

It probably worked with your 360 and laptop, because both have 1GBit LAN ports, which always come with Auto MDIX capability (Auto MDIX = the Ethernet ports figure out how to use the cable on their own to directly communicate).

This is something that the original XBOX doesn't have, as it comes with a 100MBit LAN port - there are 100MBit LAN ports that can do Auto MDIX, but it wasn't a requirement.

You can now either go the router way, or you simply buy a crossover cable for a few bucks.

I'm connected to my router and now filezilla is refusing to connect. I get ECCONREFUSED.

I even ping my xbox IP and get 0% packet loss.
