I haven't been able to figure this out. They proudly state 32MiB of ram yet that's what it always had as far as I can remember, and the cpu is 396mhz whereas it's always been able to up to 396mhz.

From what I can see the more flash is solely there so that they can rewrite the fpga to switch between ds/3ds mode and the more gates is a similar thing. So is that really it? If so why, gateway was already on it's way out when it was announced as CFW was becoming more and more popular.

The sole thing I can maybe see that's different is that the cpu is by default 396mhz instead of 360mhz(that's what most emulators used as their defautl so I assume slowmo, rts, cheat etc use that speed too)

I figured as much, makes no sense. they should've went with qq3ds or whatver the other one's caled. They already have a realtime OS developed for the thing and they were also using an FPGA that was the size of the gateway I believe or a bit larger. The rest had way fewer logic cells. So by doubling it they could've easily done that and just added a button ontop to switch back and forth. Oh well since no one's selling dstwo anymore and I've lost my 3ds with the cart in it, i guess I'm going tohave to buy a dstwo+ with the brickway premium.

qq3ds is also a ripoff of brickway

Actually, they switched a ReiNAND based CFW called "freeCFW." It's based on an older version of ReiNAND and lacks tons of features like FIRM0/1 protection and even CFW on sysNAND.
Don't buy flashcarts, they are always out of date and just junk.

_ds_ mode flashcarts that's what this whole thread is about. Unless ndsbootstrap somehow has 100% compatability ds mode flashcarts are pretty much required.

I was answering the question in the title by correcting the information shown. As for the DS-Mode, it will 100%. Actually really all DS flashcarts these days will have 100% perfect compatibility

I said ndsboostrap not the dstwo+ I already had dstwo. That's why ds mode flashcarts are still necessary. this entire thread was me asking if they basically did jack shit on the ds side and isntead just slapped some crap on to keep their sales figures up.

I know this is a bit late but the SuperCard DSTWO+ has more than just a Gateway feature in it, the flashcart itself is an upgrade of the regular SuperCard DSTWO in terms of hardware. It is able to run at 396 MHz with 32 MB of RAM. Firmware wise it isn't different from the SuperCard DSTWO, however the DSTWO+ can run more than just Game Boy Advance. The DSTWO is just 2 in 1, only able to handle Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance games where as the DSTWO+ can handle Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Game Boy Advance, and Super Nintendo. Hence the reason it is labeled at "SuperCard DSTWO+ 4 in 1". So it isn't a complete waste. The original price of the DSTWO+ is $40 which is a really good price versus all these other flashcarts like the Sky3DS+. The Sky3DS+ costs $90 and it only plays 3DS games, no emulation, no Nintendo DS games. So if anything, I feel its a damn good deal for something like this.

were you using custom firmware? What OS did you try this on?

You should read everything first before you purchase stuff you get, majority of the sites that sold the SuperCard DSTWO+ even stated "Supercard DSTWO Plus (DSTWO+) can play 3DS games on the Nintendo 3DS Firmware versions 4.5-9.2." Which means if you try to play it on a later firmware yea you better expect some problems.

I know that it shouldn't have happened, however who in their bright mind would want 3DS roms on a flashcart anyway when you have better methods on a modded 3DS itself?

The original DSTWO is able to emulate SNES as well.

Because scene releases are only drag and drop and you don't waste space on the 3DS' SD?

It may be able to run the emulator, doesn't mean it can run as good as it does on the DSTWO+ though. About that thing pertaining to the games taking up the SD card space on the 3DS. Honestly that should not be a main priority with a flashcart. The 3DS is meant to hold 3DS games, a flashcart is supposed to give purpose for Nintendo DS games (maybe 3DS if the roms were not so big in terms of space it takes) and a whole bunch of other emulators running other various games. Some of these emulators have yet to be ported or implemented period to 3DS to this day, I am sure eventually they all will be working on the 3DS one day. Why stick a 3-4GB 3DS game on a flashcart like this when you could stick a whole bunch of games on here that utilize that 3-4GB more wisely. If space is an issue then just get a bigger SD card for your 3DS and continue to build your 3DS game collection on the console. Basically what I am saying is, sticking 3DS roms on a flashcart is a waste for now due to the fact that 3DS roms take up space, 3GB for one game is ridiculous, you could use that storage for NDS games or retro games.

My second point with the last statement was that you can simply drag and drop the scene releases to the SD and play them, while you have to convert scene releases to .cia first if you go the custom firmware route.

396mhz, RIP 3ds' battery
In my experience so far that theory seems to be false with the DSTWO+, I have been doing some tests this past week, using all three of my Nintendo DSi's, and both of my 3DS consoles. (one is the new model the other is the older model). My Nintendo DSi firmware on all three are on 1.4.5U and my 3DS firmware on both 3DS's are on 11.6.0-39U with custom firmware. I tested two fully charged DSi's side by side, both playing the same game, one being emulated through the DSTWO+ on one DS and the other using the real deal cartridge, I set the DSi consoles to max brightness. The first game tested was Pokemon Platinum, both USA (region doesn't really matter however I like accurate tests). I left it there sitting side by side for a full 12 hours, watching both consoles. I of course got bored during the process so I played some of my Game Boy while I watched. About five and a half hours later both consoles had red lights indicating low battery, so I waited until they both completely died. About 10-15 minutes later the DSi with the SuperCard DSTWO+ died followed by the other DSi which died almost a minute and a few seconds after. Now I understand that the DSTWO is set to its lowest speed so I did more testing, this time with the Catsfc emulator. Knowing that the DSi died in about five and a half hours playing a DS game on the DSTWO+, I decided to see how long the DSi would last on Catsfc with 396MHz CPU boost. I charged the console the rest of the day and waited for the next day to hit. The next day finally and I tested the DSi once more. The DSi died in almost five hours, 4 hours and 47 minutes to be exact. So yes maybe you lost a short bit of battery life, but that isn't super bad. The average span of a DSi battery with full brightness is about five to six hours, most of the time it is just five. So that honestly is not bad at all. I did the same tests with my 3DS consoles, got similar results, the only difference was my 3DS consoles lasted slightly longer than my DSi consoles. Even so that whole "Rip battery" theory is a bit too exaggerated. If your console died less than four hours or less then that is due to a worn battery being charged while being played at the same time, that is entirely your fault lol.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I forgot to mention, I did a test today, seeing if the battery was consumed with the DSi turned off and the DSTWO+ inside the console. The result was that the battery was NOT consumed at all even with the flashcart left in the console, I still have a full battery life. This test lasted 24 hours, I started it yesterday night and finished the test now.
