To sum it up, your Switch was docked and you've put the Joy Cons on the console as you left going whatever you were going to do.

Here's the thing: The Switch does not let you control the home menu when the Joy Cons are on a docked console. They have to be removed... so I wonder if that's how it happened...

He said the joycons were on the grip.

definitely in the grip

@Setery so to sum it up you had the joycons in the grip and the console docked on the main menu? Also how long was the time span between when you left the console and came back to it?

There's no way for me to truly know this and I think like 10 min tops but I'm not sure now if time is a huge factor or a factor at all.

Actually, if you don't remember the timespan, here's the question: Was the console in sleep mode?
I don't recall but I'm pretty sure it wasn't

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you hover over a blank tile in the switch ui? Maybe it's possibly a button hold or combo while hovering over one? That's my best guess I can think of

I only asked since you have set the auto sleep mode after 1 hour in docked mode. If you weren't sure it could give away some info.

So when you came back, NES Golf already booted? Or you took the controller, and then NES Golf booted suddenly? (Just to make sure, that might be the last question I want to ask)

Yeah this is important, i dont see how this shit can be so vague.

Wouldn't that make the egg inaccessible once you filled the HOME Menu, though?

I was super tired when this happened hence not thinking about recording this at all. All I remember is setting down my controller coming back and it was booted.

Then there is no point asking any questions.
Yeah the reason I even posted this was to see if others had something similar happen to them.

Thank you. That's all I needed to know.
To be fair I've already attempted recreating this even by going back to the date and time on the console itself and doing nothing hoping it would boot up. Of course nothing happened.

The oly questin that could've helped us was in wich menu he left the console, could've saved us some research and investigation, at least. Guess will have to smash buttons in the main menu until something happens, or wait for the researches to search for clues in the system itself.

Pardon my newness to the forum, do you recall for how long it was docked prior to the emulator loading? Splatoon has been known to behave strangely when the system has been docked for too long or starts to overheat. Since the home-menu and the 'flog' file are both in qstart it's possible that the console was overheating and messed up a bit.
