Over years of use rechargeable batteries will say "fuck you, I've had enough of your shit."

To my understanding lithium batteries get stressed when you charge them. For this reason you should not have your phone plugged into the charger overnight. I'm going to extrapolate a little here to say that you shouldn't have your Switch connected to the dock all night with the power plugged in. But what if you are playing on your Switch? Should you remove the power cable once the battery gets to ~98%?
 
I leave it in its carry case every night, and I lose 1-2% each night. I guess it would help if you only charge it when it's near dead. I've also heard it's good to completely drain it once in a while.
 
Leaving it in overnight does damage it, but not enough to really cause issues during its standard life cycle. After that you'll be able to buy replacement batteries anyway. Rechargeables will always die anyway, so it's only a matter of time.
 
Yet they are currently the only way to power portable devices. Can't wait until we get carbon nano-tube super capacitors instead of batteries. Devices that charge in seconds and last days.
I dunno what that is but if it means never buying replacement batteries again, then good. I hate batteries and storage devices, unreliable stuff. Can't be too careful with them, is like trying to manage a pet's hygiene.

That's because they can't be mass-produced yet. We've gotten small amounts of the needed materials by using pencil lead and a cd drive, of all things. It isn't a battery though. It charges very fast and has a large capacity to size ratio. But as of right now we have no good way to produce them.
