I saw a topic on reddit about a dude's n3ds xl having visible horizontal lines when he tilts the screen https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/QuarterlyAdmiredBoaconstrictor

I always keep seeing those horizontal lines on my n3ds xl and i thought that's how the screen is. Tilting doesn't help. Now i'm beginning to doubt if my screen is also damaged.. Any help?

It's a bit zoomed in, but are those horizontal lines normal? I read about flickering lines, black lines etc and i got none of those, just those static horizontal lines.

Your screen must be an IPS then. I heard all of IPS screen has those scanlines. So..yeah it is "normal" by the 3ds ips screen standard.

My lower 3ds screen is ips for sure, but the upper screen becomes whiter at an angle, so i think it's TN. Well i wont bother with it anymore! Thanks for help.

Its a TN? Which screen has the lines? The top or bottom? But if you are moving on with it then it is for the best! Enjoy your 3ds! :)

That's normal when 3D is turned off, it's because the horizontal gap between the pixels is much smaller than the vertical gap due to the screen being an unusual 800x240.
If you don't like it, either play with 3D on or with 3D set to the lowest setting.

That's actually what i thought at the beginning too. It's that Gif i posted that threw me off. You can clearly see the horizontal lines appearing/disappearing when he tilts the screen.

Looks like they're always there to me. Look at the smiley on the right, the lines don't go away at all.
