So when I turn my 3ds on latest luma on later firm ir makes a loud pop and powers off. People say it could be a ribbon cable (unless latest luma broke sumthin.)

Now I'd like to know 2 things.

1) are there any tempers who repair. And if there are what would you want in return sides shipping both ways?

And 2) what ribbon cable would be needed?

I'd much rather get it fixed it's the us pikachu n3ds which ain't that old. And I don't wanna replace it yet.

Edit 1:Gonna test 1 thing and check back in a couple hours. I'm popping the micro SD card out for a couple hours and if no issue I'll have the issue ALOT more isolated

Try powering it on with the screen only slightly open. See if there's an angle beyond which it goes pop and off. If it is, it's definetly either a broken ribbon cable or it's loose in the connector slot on the motherboard.

You 3DS have no broken ribbons then.
Open Luma3DS config and set on "Autoboot SysNAND"

It is already.

Try powering it on with the screen only slightly open. See if there's an angle beyond which it goes pop and off. If it is, it's definetly either a broken ribbon cable or it's loose in the connector slot on the motherboard.

I could not force the results but it does it randomly. It could happen 5 minutes from when it turns on up to 30 minutes after

Well, then if you think you have broken ribbons, you can dissamble it and check the motherboard?
Probably i don't think are the ribbons, but did you tried to restore NAND (keep luma3ds and B9S)?

Try this:

Black screen on SysNAND boot

  1. Try booting with your SD card out, and then reinserting it after booting
    1. Power off your device
    2. Remove your SD card from your device
    3. Power on your device
    4. When the home menu appears, reinsert your SD card into your device
    5. If this worked, you should clear Home Menu’s extdata by navigating to the following folder on your SD card: /Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)/(32 Character ID)/extdata/00000000/
      • EUR Region: Delete 00000098
      • JPN Region: Delete 00000082
      • USA Region: Delete 0000008f
      • CHN Region: Delete 000000A1
      • KOR Region: Delete 000000A9
      • TWN Region: Delete 000000B1
  2. Try booting without any cartridges inserted (including flashcarts)
  3. If you have a hardmod and a NAND backup, flash the backup back to SysNAND
  4. Try booting into recovery mode and updating your system
    1. Power off your device
    2. Hold (L) + (R) + (A) + (Up)
    3. Power on your device
    4. If you enter safe mode, update your device

If his 3DS does indeed turn off randomly, it's most likely not a software issue.

Yeah, but he said he didn't throw it or something like that. So, I wonder, if he didn't throw the 3ds. must be B9S and Luma3DS issue.
He didn't say that. He said "it may have been handled a little rougher than it should", I have a feeling there's something he's not telling us.
The ribbon cable could have gotten frayed just from opening and closing the 3DS too, although unlikely.
It's probably the upper screen/speaker ribbon cable, since that's the most vulnerable one, but it could be one of the others too.
@DarkShinigami @vb_encryption_vb does hardmods in the US, I'm sure replacing a ribbon cable wouldn't be much problem for him, you could ask.

I'm telling everything I keep it in a bag when I got to work but I probably should keep the 3ds in a case. Anyway 2 hours and still on without sd card so it a could be something wrong on or with the sd card.
