The sheer dearth of decent homebrew besides Yarrrr! for the WiiU is the saddest part of this potentially amazing consoles sad tale. We (looks around the room encouragingly), I said we can make this right. All it takes is a small pledge from yourselves and the drunken devs will roll themselves out of their alcohol induced stupor in whichever gutter they're currently languishing and get busy.

The reciast team were pondering donations a while back:

And I think it wouldn't be hard to get them on board if there was some talented coders on the WiiU side willing to bring their skills to the table as it could become the ultimate DC revival platform.

What say ye?

I don't even use the WiiU but may give it a try once it's out.

An emulator of a failed console that runs on a failed console? Sounds great!
You're now going to get doxxed for hurting certain Nintendo fans' feelings. >:

It would be better to wait a few years for the Switch to be hacked. If you're going to do a fuckload of work to port an emulator properly you would be better off doing so on a system that more people own. I hope that in another five or so years the Switch has some awesome emulators on it like the Wii does.

But most of the good dreamcast games have ports already. :ninja:
Exactly the problem all the best games on Dreamcast are also available for gamecube or the original Xbox or Xbox 360. Out of the other games that are not available elsewhere I am struggling to think of one game I would like to play again other than Shenmue 1

Ain't nothing like the original Soul Calibur on Dreamcast.
It's available on Xbox Live lol

Yep good luck with that. The wiiu can't even run PSX games at a decent speed and your looking for the far more advanced Dreamcast to work perfectly lol.
But that's a software problem not a hardware problem. The WiiU hardware is powerful enough for a flawless working PSX emulator.

This is true. Switch would be great but WiiU is just sitting here doing nothing at the moment, hence why I wondered. Something about a failed system with loads of dope games emulating another failed system with loads of dope games just feels right to me.

Plus for those squeaking about power its all about optimization, reicast is so well coded that it can emulate DC on low end phones.

There is no interest in porting it to Wii U, you'd be better off just running an emulator on your phone or computer.

What about GREAT games, like sea man- is it also avaliable on your filthy modern demon lair?

And yet not a thing has been done or will be done to port a fully working PSX emulator. What makes you think there's enough interest for that, much less porting a Dreamcast emulator? It'll be a very cold day in hell before that happens. Face it, the Wii U getting more emulators is dead.

The major snag is the PPC dynarec, and the fact no one is even developing one, so yeah, not happening.

DS
PSP
Dreamcast
PSP
N64

All requite this dynarec core.

I mean, granted, there is a PPC dynarec core on the WiiSX-R emulator, but Mystro256 probably won't be willing to share it.

it should, there is that one on wii and it plays symphony of the night quite well, though other games aren't so hot like mgs1 :/
