I spent the better part of the weekend reading up on Wii-U hacking and getting my system all configured. Haven't been in the scene much since hard-modding my original xbox and ps1/ps2 back in the day. I did a lot of work on my original Wii during the week prior and got a ton working before deciding to buy a Wii-U off craigslist. So after experiencing the sweet loaders like CFG USB Loader and USB Loader GX within Wii/vWii, it's a shame not having something similar for Wii-U.

After sifting through years of forum posts and guides from different eras, I finally stumbled onto Wii U USB Helper and have been downloading and installing games from that along with WUP Installer. Pretty awesome. Unfortunately, from anything I've read so far, the only thing you can do is put them into folders. Which I've done. And have been using the menu sort homebrew to sort the stuff.

I can't imagine it would be worth converting all of these games that can be installed via USB Helper to Loadiine? And then dealing with the compatibility issues that loadiine brings with it? The only optimization I can see from what I have now is manually going through the file system with ftpiiu_everywhere and replacing the icons with better ones. Pales in comparison though. I haven't even dabbled with Loadiine yet as I'm still getting the WUP installer stuff going, but from what I've seen it looks like it has a similar type of interface.

Is this what everyone else is doing? Did I miss something along the way?

all we really have been doing is installing the games to the hardrive. loadiine is not a good option. It lacks support. your better off installing them using wupinstaller, and using usb helper

I think most are using wup installer and an hdd. if you want to use loadiine, you can download the content and select decrypt content to get the code, content, and meta folders without having to install the games. this will save you a lot of time if you want to use loadiine. also, if you use mocha, you can play the content on a fat32 hdd. however, the content must be installed first on a wii u hdd, then transferred over.

I'm not sure I see the problem? Do you just want the games displayed with a more fancy GUI?

some games are going to have long load times. iirc, zelda itself has around 40,000 files.

edit: now that I think about it, I think u can loadiine with usb via mocha, but I don't have any experience with that.

longer compared to what? disc? and which is longer? wup or loadiine? I would imagine anything loading off HDD would be faster than disc.

well, loadiine generally reads games off of the sd card. some games can take like 20 minutes to boot up due to the number of files. there are ways to fix certain games like Super Mario 3D World which has a lot of files, but it's tedious and not all games work that way.

The last thing i Heard about Loadiine with fat32 support was that was a Little bit slower than Loadiine, and kinda of a pain in the ass to set up moreso than regular Loadiine, CFW or just the old brazilian method. And i'm pretty sure games like Super Mario 3D World and Twilight Princess HD never got fixed like games like Starfox did so they are stuck with early PS2 loading times.

So Loadiine is an automatic No-no in most people eyes.

Yes :) Eye candy and easier for the kids.
Loading games from USB from the home screen is easy for kids i have 250 odd games installed and my 5 year old can find the games he wants to play easily and I don't even have my games in any folders. Kids are smarter and more tech savy than adults give them credit for.

actually, super mario 3d world is fixable. never heard of a fix for zelda, but I think the zelda I'm thinking of is breath of the wild. people were decrypting the game and playing it early to not get banned. I decrypted it myself, but I never played it due to the load times. to Nintendo, it would look like u were playing mii maker. lol

I never saw a fix to that game, everything was just loading so slow on that game on Loadiine. Ohhh yeah the "Im gonna play Zelda using Loadiine because i won't get banned, btw i'm streaming myself playing a game i'm clearly pirating on YouTube" thing, those people just gave the Wii U versión bad rep just because they were using Loadiine.
