On the WiiU you sorta had a PM service but only if you used the shitty Miiverse app to communicate, now, on the Switch you have absolutely none. It doesn't make sense for the Switch to not have a private messaging service for the gamers to chat.

I know some here will probably say "Just use a phone/email to contact" that's not the point. This is something that we could do on 360/PS3 and yet on the Switch we can't.

This feels like an essential feature that the Switch should have but doesn't.

Wasn't there a PM function in the friend list on Wii U?

Nevermind private messaging, it doesn't even have public messages.
But I don't think anyone expected the Switch to have messaging since they announced that communication would be done through a smartphone app.
Plus Nintendo does not have the best track record when it comes to online functionality.
Personally, I don't really mind, as I hardly ever used any of the communication features on my 360 (or my Wii U for that matter) and voicechat is something I generally avoid anyway. But I can see why it might be important to most people.
Still it is pretty shitty of them not to include such a basic feature to something that we will be paying $20 a year for come 2018.
It's not too late for them to change their mind though.

It seems a bit like they're trying to separate any potential hack entry points from the Switch by moving their functionality to the phone app.
Hack by sending messages from miiverse pm? Are they even trying to end Miiverse? No, wait 3DS uses it and they support it. Nope, never mind. But that reminded me when people found porn on miiverse cause of that one exploit in a game that allowed posting any image on there. :P

Wasn't there some sort of message-delivered hack on the 3DS with swapdoodle? Or am I completely misunderstanding?

You can thank the pedophiles for misusing the early versions of swapnote

Another thread by OP complaining about nothing, just to complain.
How is it complaining about nothing? I made so much friends on Puyo Puyo Tetris but I can't ask them if they want to play because I can't communicate with them.

So wait till 2018. Yay.

I forgot. Must never criticise Nintendo, must always love Nintendo no matter what. Gotcha! ;)

There's really not much else to do. Complaining about something we're not even sure about really does nothing but make the fanbase look entitled.

Not going to lie, I wish we had some basic messaging system, but we don't even have a true social thing to fall back on. Just your generic friends list.. Also we have a "beta" type thing in the coming months. So, yeah... Not 2018..

Even by then, no one can really say if Nintendo will actually include a PM service on the Switch chances are they'll make that part of the smartphone app thing. Convoluted mess.

No one can say anything. Which is my point. All we can do is speculate.

it is true, unlikely but if Nintendo really wanted to they could go in and update the wii u to have pm, nobody knows the future for the future is not written
