I'm hoping for mario kart 8 deluxe datamining, I wonder if we can see unused content, maybe leftovers from the wii u game and possibly upcoming dlc?

Smells like... a disaster. Piracy this early on switch = ruined console. :creep: (LET THE HATE FLOW THROUGH YOU ALL TO QUOTE MY POST AND COMPLAIN HOW WRONG I AM) :tpi:
Speaking to piracy: I've spoken with the people involved in the scene (different username though), most on a day to day basis. The general feeling is that they want to keep things private until newer patches come out that invalidate their current entry points. However, they're all approaching it (homebrew) in a methodical and, for lack of better word, scientific way. Meaning tons of documentation on the process. The good news however is that none of them seem willing to enable piracy in any way, but to allow the homebrew scene to flourish.

EDIT: To speak to their legitimacy, they mostly refuse to acknowledge or use the SDK in any way, instead of reverse engineering a toolchain together (not sure where they are in this regard).

That is the case with just about %90 of the homebrew exploit "scene" but the moment someone is able to dump a rom/iso and create a backup loader, that when it ends.

Now I'm not saying they are doing it with intention of piracy, because they state in every disclaimer is not the reason. But Obviously one thing leads to another. No they don't create backup loader and game dump homebrew for piracy, they do it for personal use and assume people use retail purchased items, but it will just get a website dedicated to dumping and uploading games to it.

Honestly I just want emulators, Homebrew emulators, Now if someone can make a homebrew game, that be new for me since I hardly see people doing that (That isn't a port)

No it doesnt end support for a system that sells very well, the DS was easy to pirate games on, it was easy to hack Wii and 3ds but they still became big sucess and sold tremendously well and still had support out the gate, even though they were all hacked but did that stop developers, no.

If you say piracy ended Wii U, PSVita and Dreamcast, well thats wrong, PSVita didnt get hacked fully till recently and was not a success out the door due to Sonys poor marketing and high priced propreitary memory sticks, thats why it failed, Wii U failed cause Nintendo did a bad job marketing it aswell by making it look like a Wii accessory, so instead of people thinking it was the WII Successor, they thought it was a Tablet for the Wii, Dreamcast was doing great but theres alot of reasons why it failed and piracy wasnt one of em, Sega just made so many bad decisions back then, plus PS2 came out a year after the US launch.

So piracy does not end a systems life, plus dont bring PSP up, it sold 70 million units world wide,, which is a success.

Whether you like it or not, eventually the Switch is gonna be hacked anyway, plus its a way better deal than buying a Tegra X1 tablet, theres a reason people want to hack it, multiplayer on the go and its the latest Tegra graphics chip on the market.

I do not mean to be mean to you by the way.

Slippery slope fallacy. Trying to say any action will inevitably lead to x y or z is a silly way to think of things. By that logic, you could also say Nintendo was asking for and actively contributing to piracy by releasing the console in the first place.

Not only that, but as another user mentioned above, piracy, while reprehensible, has been proven time and time again now to not make a significant impact on the success of a console's overall lifespan.

Regardless, the folks putting things together to make homebrew a reality have good intentions: enable creative homebrew development without directly creating a piracy scene. I overall would say it's a very positive thing, especially with how fondly people look back on the PSP and what was accomplished on it way back when.

Yep, expected post like this, glad to know it came true. :P

I'm not into arguing about piracy. Nor did i say anything bad about it besides it could be disastrous too early. No I never said piracy was the reason for anything being ended. Personally I don't care if it happens or not.

What i said is that people who are creating exploits and homebrew are making ways to have consumer purchase games and allow backup of games legally owned to be played. But "OTHER PEOPLE" will use them for piracy which was never the intended purpose of the homebrew developer. That was the statement i was making in the post you quoted.

I also agree with all your points, but is unfair to say that piracy has %0 impact on anything, I accept is not the #1 only reason for such events, but it does play a part in some things but not everything. Wii u sales suck cause it wasn't a good console for 3rd party games and bad marketing, vita doesn't have sony support for games and marketing, dreamcast was released at the wrong time and ps2 put it to bed. Psp has much more marketing done on the system than vita has and selling well was probably the result of good games and marketing. Nintendo DS has great games and marketing. I know all of this. I wasn't making a point of Piracy ruining business like many people think.

I only hate datamining when it starts spreading all the secrets of the game all over the internet before its even announced, it's so hard to not have datamining leaks not appear in my newsfeed on social media sites because theres always some different person sharing or posting it, like I just want to be surprised when playing my games yknow? When the 3ds hacking scene started to spark up a bit and smealum posted the 3 legendary pokemon that werent released yet and then every video games news site and other people were talking about it, or when the ORAS special demo was datamined and we got to see a large majority of the new pokemon before the game was released and every one was talking about it and destroyed the surprise of finding the new pokemon when playing the actual game :( Or that time they found Ryus victory fanfare in the smash bros update files and rumors were circulating everywhere completely ruining Ryus reveal trailer for me when it finally aired :( Other than that datamining is pretty cool being able to use the models that were in the game for other purposes etc etc but please dont spoil things :(

This, I was hoping to go at least a year or two before all this shit started, I'm just praying by the Nintendo releases a core Pokemon game for Switch a majority of exploits are patched so we can have a hack free Pokemon scene again (thinking early XY days)

Hatred for Nintendo and their ignorance, is one of the primary reasons why hackers are so determined to hack the console and pirate the games.

piracy impacts the success of the console MUCH MUCH less than you think. if you don't believe, just tell a random person with a switch about how he can mod it by following a guide they may not trust or doing a ton of research into a topic they may not be interested in, just to be able to not spend a few dollars. Inconvience takes priority over benefits in lots of situations like this as i've seen.

Yeah, I know how piracy works, I was joking, I thought I made that clear.

YES! That is always my favorite answer to homebrew! I honestly just want emulators, SNES9X with MSU-1 and rewind support on switch? 10/10 Kega Fusion (or Genesis plus) 10/10 EPSXE (Or some other good psx emulator) 10/10

Your post gets perfect score of 30 points. :D

Fusion will never happen, it's closed source. Genesis Plus has better YM2612 emulation.

I think a lot of you overestimate how many people even bother with homebrew, let alone piracy. Yes, 90% of people on this section of Temp will have and or be interested in homebrew, but that's hardly a sample size compared to the millions upon millions who own consoles. The average user:

A.
Isn't technologically inclined enough to follow a step-by-step guide. Or just lazy (literally have 2 roommates who know about the 3DS scene but "Don't feel like it")
B. Doesn't know how to find it.
C. Doesn't know it exists.

I wish there were stats on this, and I know it varies per console, but I'm willing to bet less than 1% of 3DS owners have homebrew.

Not sure what YM2612 is, but I was just saying. :P

I use fusion all the time, but Genesis plus does support those 8MB rom hacks or whatever. Still haven't finished my Pier solar and the great architects on the wii genesis plus emulator. That wii emulator is pretty sick, Just missing 32X emulation, kega fusion has it, but can't play pier solar, cause it only has 5MB rom file limit. But both are good emus. But I feel 32X emulation may have bigger demand than Whatever YM2616 is. (not to mention the sweet Graphic filters Kega Fusion has. Like this one) XBRZ makes Pixel games look nice on HD screens. :ninja:
