So I'm not super fluent with bit coin, but I've used it a bit here and there. We lost at least 3 exploits to Nintendos pay out system. Yeah you could do a pledge like xda does, but that's a crap shoot. With bit coin, you could give lets say 12 trusted community members 4 keys to an escrow. When exploits are found you can pay out from a real pool of money that everyone can see and knows exist. You'd have to put up real money in advance and can't just have kids pledging imaginary money. I could set this up, but I'm joe nobody. It would have to be driven by someone that is recognized.

"Wait. So you want me to pay money for exploits so that I can avoid paying money for games?"

That's one aspect of it I suppose. For me though, I'd love something like project moonlight for the switch. Nvidia game streaming to the switch would be amazing. Many nights I've wanted to fart around in Witcher 3 while relaxing in bed. It's a super cool piece of gear. It'd be nice if it wasn't so walled off.

Not really though. There's some online markets that already use a trusted escrow. Like I said, I gotta read a little more into it, but I'm a software engineer. This shouldn't be too hard. But I can't be like "hey guys look what I did!" Because while we can decentralize it a bit it's still a trust of sorts. Everyone would be like who the heck is this guy and why do we trust him to drive this. We need like a modder or a group from the scene, maybe some gba temp admins, and Idk, maybe a few popular community members from here or like reddit. People then can send coin's to an address which from there can be paid on consensus

Well we might be getting that rainway something PC streaming app...

But yeah off the top of my head I see four problems with this:

1. It's possible that not enough funds would be donated. From what I've seen there are more people who pirate because they cannot afford the games, and they are unlikely to be able to donate that much - and may be adverse to online payments and bitcoin anyways.

2. Hackers may start to "game" the system, by requesting payment for exploits they would have otherwise offered for free.

3. It's possible that one of the people you trust with the keys, end up being untrustworthy with money - siphoning off funds for their wants. Or the balance may get hacked and stolen.

4. Adding incentive may not speed up the process of finding exploits, or some people who find exploits may feel duty bound to give them to Nintendo anyways.

Most people that find and release such exploits aren't doing it for money, but rather the experience, and the satisfaction of knowing that their work is being used and enjoyed by many others. Sure they may accept donations, but that rarely seems to be their end goal. Fact of the matter is, the people that gave their findings to Nintendo and got paid for it, are almost certainly the kind of people that would have never made their exploits public regardless of if Nintendo had created the bounty program or not.

That's the idea with a multisig. One member can't take anything. 2-4 people own one key. There are 3 or 4 keys. When all the keys are used, funds can be paid. You have more than one person own a key incase they get hit by a bus

I guess I disagree. Plenty of people just don't have time or energy. This stuff is a lot of work. All of a sudden the community can put up more than Nintendo will and I think you attract players that traditionally have no interest.

Disagree or not, its true, most projects you see posted on this site, the developers aren't looking for money at all. Sure, once in a while they are or they accept donations, but its not the norm that drives this scene at all. Beyond that, I'm also certain that those that took up Nintendo's money through the bounty program were the kinds of people that would never have released their findings to our scene even if Nintendo never created the bounty program. I'd be shocked if any of them would have even actually considered releasing to our scene their findings.

Granted, there is no 100% confirmation but someone out there believes they aren't switch exploits. :P

That's what I said though. We could attract people outside of the standard scene. Regardless. I think this is a thing I'll pursue. No need for speculation. I'm just going to do it and at the very least spell out the process step by step.

For #2, that seems completely fair. They are offering money for that stuff after all. Why would anyone offer them exploit info for free knowing they'll pay money for it?

Yeah. Maybe the GBAtemp Bounty program will steer people towards releasing their findings rather than keeping them private or sending them to Nintendo, that's what I'm hoping at least.

When you say you lost exploits to Nintendo, what exactly do you mean?

I will not donate my hard earned money to some weirdos which claim to have done anything without any proof. Some do have a proof, but even after paying them out, they will simply not release it. Even if you shove $1m up their ass, they will still not release it.

And they don't need to get paid, we haven't lost "3 devs" because that program is supposed to make Switch and 3DS safer.

We've been here before and these things don't end well on temp, it's not the right place for this.

For something like this it would be better to discuss it in the higher end hacking forums where the actual devs and coders can talk about it.

Nobody serious comes here, all our info is 2nd hand retweets. Temps a bit of a joke with the big boys, think our 4chan.
