Thanks for this OP. Am new to the 3DS hacking scene, and this is a very helpful tool. Combined with the GBA Injector it makes the New3DS the ultimate 16-bit handheld.

Do have a question, I tried injecting Super Mario Allstars EU, but it gave me the same problem as some of the people experienced with Terranigma; the region message (the USA version and some other EU games run fine though). Really want to solve it, as some games I'll likely want to play the EU version specifically.
There is in fact a Super Mario All-Stars + SMW EU inject made by @Asia81. Try looking for it on that chaos site and that iso site as well.

I had problems to run custom patched rom on it, DQ I-II with translation added to it.

But then I realised I had to remove HEADER, required in rom for the IPS patching process.

So there is tool that I used to add /remove header to rom:
https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/841/

(add header for patching), (remove, to run it in the VC)

try it when the game with custom added patch don't boot. it worked for me.

not all roms require a header to be properly patched tho.

^ Yeah I realised this too when trying to install the Lufia II "Frue Version" patch. Can confirm that Lufia II: "Frue Version" patch functions correctly with the VC.

Some stuff I couldn't get to work, but others obviously did; E.V.O.: the Search for Eden for the life of me I couldn't get to work; gave me a black screen only. However, there is a fully functioning cia "out there".

Another one that I can't get to work is Mortal Kombat II, but there may be something else going there. I remember that one giving me troubles in the past unrelated to the N3DSXL emulator.

Still wondering why some PAL roms give a region code message (which is always the same; "This game pak is not designed for use on your super famicom or super nes), while others do not. As we know, the N3DS emulator is NTSC, but we are not bothered by lockout chips here. So these messages were given by the game itself, even after the region lockout was bypassed; which explains why they are often in a font specific to that game (at least for the ones I noticed; PAL All Stars, PAL Sunset Riders and Terranigma) and can be given even after the logo (in DKC after the "Rare" animation). In other words, it is an additional check which was probably a response to region adapters that were on the market back then; the message from the Donkey Kong Country PAL is expanded to outright saying so;

I seem to be having a problem using this with the English fan translation of Clock Tower. Every time I try to use it, it says "This ROM isn't LoROM or HiROM or its trimmed!". Does the game not work, or am I doing something wrong?
I have same problem with "This ROM isn't LoROM or HiROM or its trimmed!" error, i think it's because translation patch messed it up, so injector wont let you load it (although it works normally in emu). I've even tried to "expand" rom to 12mbit with snes tools, but then it wont boot up in VC.

When I used this tool with a ROM generated by the A Link to the Past Randomizer, when I run the installed .cia, the 3DS freezes with a black screen.

These are simple 2-megabyte LoROM files, so I don't know what is wrong.

By the way, if this were open-source, I'd submit a pull request to fix the thing about not supporting .smc files. The ROMs I have are named .smc out of habit, but have no Super Magicom header, so are actually in .sfc format. In any case, the difference can be autodetected and handled.

Idk if this is the right place to ask, but has anyone had any luck injecting Clock Tower?
I've heard of some guy on YouTube named Skullator, he has a VC inject of Clock Tower that works for him, although that was probably shown on a video uploaded several months ago, way before this VC injector even came out.

Haven't tried Clocky yet, but will in the near future and report back.

Others that really need to be installed with the forwarder instead of the injector;
Mortal Kombat II; you'll experience some audio glitches though; both with Pocketsnes and catsfc.
Spiderman & the X-men; when injected, the spidersense will give you a visual glitchfest in the Spiderman levels; fortunately when using Retroarch, it runs near accurate!

The only way I can get Clocktower translation to run is by means of the forwarder / Retroarch using catsfc. It has always been a problematic game of course, but I'll ignore that for now;
- The ultimate injector won't accept the patched ROM due to its size, seemingly, expanding it to 3,5 will result in a black screen with functional VC menu, to 4 will result in a double black screen.
- Through Retroarch/Pocketsnes, you'll be confronted with a strange bottom-screen lock down throwing you back to a glitchfest home menu, and eventually a system error message. It looks dangerous, but it probably isn't. Not recommended you try.

I can't get kyuuyaku Megami Tensei SNES translation to be created into a cia I get the "this isn't a LoROM, HiROM or it's Trimmed" error message it'll become a cia by just using the non patched ROM though. If anyone has a solution please let me know

I tried injecting Rockman & Forte (with translation by Aeon Genesis), and it worked, except the sound has frequent crackles. any idea how to fix? I tried checking if the game used any special chips, but it doesn't look like it does.

Well, guess I gotta choose between crackles and screen crunch from the GBA version... Wouldn't be such a problem if Crapcom included the game in Legacy Collection 2.

Go with the sound it's not worth suffering with screen crunch

Has anyone managed to get Seiken Densetsu 3 english version to run? Nearly every rom I run through the menu turns upside down and text does not appear

Any luck on Terranigma yet anybody? I've looked everywhere but I can't fine that perfect working english CIA mentioned previously. I wanna play this game on the go so bad! And not a glitchy version either!

On a side note, as my first post on this forum I just have to say thank you so much to all of you hard working people here doing so much to enhance all of our lives for so little return. You guys are amazing!

That link doesn't work for me :/ Does it run games similar to a VC injector? I'm such a noob with this injection stuff (Literally just really started doing it last week). I don't know if forwarders act as separate emulators or what lol

Btw all of your work with these injectors are appreciated so much. You are a god imo :P
Try searching for "Ultimate SNES Forwarder Maker" on the forum searcher.
It's a similar program than this one, but the other one injects the game into a custom Retroarch emulator, which is more customizable and compatible than this (Virtual Console official emulator).
