Going crazy, my lap has been slowing quite a bit now. I mean, is not as fast as when I first used it, but it's not slow to a point where I can't do anything.
Actually, everynow and then it closes the my Internet Browser, which is Chrome, or it closes any running software. Now, the only ones I use are:
-My Scanner's software.
-Gimp
And that's it.

So... is there any way to free some RAM memory?
Delete Caché?

I've been browsing the Internet looking for it, but they all direct me on how to free HD space.
Which, by the way, is not a problem. I have 500GB with 340GB of free space. Don't know what's using 160GB in my lap, aside of perhaps 50GB (Unity, Photoshop, Blender, that kind of software) and 15GB of music.

See?

perphaps buying higher capacity ram sticks?
change into a 32 bits version of windows if you have like 2GB of ram (you didn't told your specs)

Could be a virus? Check task manager when it starts to slow down bad to see if any unopened applications are running or multiple web browsers or to see where your RAM memory resources are being used at.

You can also try Defragmentation on your HDD it's always good

If you go to the task manager, you can see whats eating up the most memory (aka ram).
Ah! So there's that thing?
I was wondering if I could do just like with my phone, you know, just going to memory and selecting "Free Memory" and blam!
Ok... so, how do I open it?
With Ctrl+Alt+Supr?

Was thinking the same thing, but actually, hadn't donloaded anything for a long time.

delete everything in your recycle bin
run CCCleaner, let it clear your registry
delete shadow copies.
Also, download maleware bytes and scan your computer for malware.

2GB ram works fine with Windows 10 x64 on my parent's laptop, it's just the PC is a bit slow but that could also be due to the HDD. And who can blame it, it's a 2009 laptop lol

On WIndows 10, press "Windows Key" + "X" at the same time, a menu should open and you can select Task Manager. Alternatively you can just search it in the start menu.

CCleaner is legit?
I used to use it when I had a desktop computer (the thing burned, literally) but never noticed changes on performance... it really does works?

Oh, I see... didn't knew that shortcut.
Now that I'm on the task manager, I can see why is slow.
Out of 4GB of ram, 3.8GB are already used... how do I free some space?
I've never encountered this problem before, so I'm quite the noob here.

CClean is a registry cleaner, so it's less noticable, but it certainly does help, like if you've installed some stuff, usually crap remains in registry and tries to run at boot time, then cancels when it realises that it can't start anything. CCleaner removes dead registry entries.

I tend to delete those files manually, by going to HKEY_LOCALMACHINE and searching for each one individually, and also by browsing the ProgramFilesX86 folder and doing the same thing.
Will it free my RAM or is just for cleaning the C drive?

CCleaner could definately be helpful in your situation. As for seeing what uses the most ram, you can click the Memory box so that the arrow is like this: ⌄
Then it'll show what apps use the most ram to the least (biggest to smallest). To free some ram, close the apps using the most ram :)

CCleaner is legit and great. Defragging the HDD probably needs done. (Ultra Defrag is free, CCleaner is free, Speccy is free) Windows 10 is pretty crap for your specs, you should be on Windows 7 or XP lol Since it's W10 though, a Refresh is optional. Speccy is another handy program. I would use it to monitor the temperature of the hard drive for a few minutes and see if it's getting properly cooled as well as checking to see if it's being used constantly even though you aren't really using it. Possible virus? Windows 10 is pretty garbage so don't expect to be able to do much if it is a virus. Just refresh or reformat it at that point. More RAM isn't going to help, the CPU is too low to invest money into more ram... It could just be really hot. Laptops tend to get hot. Let it cool off once in a while, shut it down when not in use, all that good stuff.

Switch to Firefox. Chrome uses twice as much RAM as Firefox and I had the same problem as you on my desktop with 6GB of RAM although only when I had both Chrome and a game open. Switched back to Firefox and problem solved.

Tried to download CCleaner, didn't let me cuz it may hurt my computer.
My lap doesn't heat that much, y'know? Actually, I don't feel it even warm. Of course, I'm aware of heating problems, and that's why I use a cooling pad, plus not use it while charging and not using it for prolonged hours.
I actually, wouldn't invest any more money on this, because I don't use it for many things, aside of listening music, painting and studying.

Yeah, I noticed that most of my memory was being used solely by Chrome. I just freed 100+MB of memory by ending Chrome in the Task Manager.
So far I haven't had that pop up message telling me to close my apps.
Decided to make this thread because the pop up nagged me 6 times in a minute, before I wrotte the thread.

Firefox... it's been a long time since I used it...

100 MB lol :P
Mine was regularly taking up several gigs of RAM.
I guess you don't have a lot of tabs open at the same time?

As a matter of fact, no, I do not.
And on that matter, I don't even use the Internet Browser that much either. Really, other than looking for something in specific, or doing things that I can't do in my phone.

Open task manager & clear extra apps which are sucking the ram.
The bad thing is that, most of the apps that uses the most rame are applications used by the laptop itself, like the "Smart Cool" that keeps my laptop from heating, or my Graphics and Sound card, Windows Explorer and stuff like that.
Really, the only thing that seems to be sucking the memory is Chrome.
