I have been trying to get ps1 games to work it seems iris manager and burned discs are the only way to do it

I don't get it but multiman doesn't seem to want to start half the games and mortal Kombat trilogy caused a huge issue I put in another thread

Is there anyway to get multiman to work better?

That's the thing multiman keeps crashing when I select a game

And I mentioned burned discs because I have a few laying around from my ps2 those all worked without issue

Perhaps it's better to convert your burned discs to iso? Or try downloading online? Also, make sure multiman is at the latest version.
I also read a long time ago, that ps3 only reads original psx games... but iso in a folder is fine, you can find it on the Retro Tab on Multiman XMB.

No the burned discs work fine that's the thing

Also as in change it from bin to and cue to iso?

Actually, PS1 DISC can run without a jailbreak on PS3.

PowerISO is your answer. :)

Let’s start with PSX games. Most likely you’ll have 2 files .bin and .cue, I believe that PS3 can read those two but I prefer to convert it to .iso as it has a smaller size. After that, you should decide whether you want to store the games internal or external for playing, and the method is the same.

Internal: Create a PSXISO folder in dev_hdd000 (your main internal hdd), and copy your games to it.

External: Create a PSXISO folder in the root of your external hdd, and copy your games to it.

Then go to Retro tab in Multiman, choose the game you want to play and click on it.

Suggestion: I prefer to turn off the screen mode for PSX and PS2 games, by default, it is set as “Full Screen”.

I see, you may have unique issue there. I also think it depends on the cfw your ps3 have. For me, psx games ran either in discs or iso, I have a ps3 slim.

This is the tutorial I followed before, I hope it would help, it's pretty much what azore said, just make sure that your exernal hdd is fat 32 format.

Rebug 4.75 Cobra 7.2
Making PSX backups:

1. Start multiman from the XMB
2. go to HOME column and select "Switch between mmCM and multiMAN"
3. Now Insert a original PSX game or a backup in a CD-R disc.It will appear in the games section.
4. Select it, press triangle, and choose “Create ISO”.Wait for the copy to complete. If the game only contains the data track, the backup will be in iso format;
if it contains more tracks, cue/bin format will be used instead.

Playing PSX backups:

1. Start multiman from the XMB
2. go to HOME column and select "Switch between mmCM and multiMAN"
3. Choose the backup from the list in the “Retro” section and press X.
4. mmCM will mount the backup and exit. You can start the psx game backup from the XMB.

mmCM uses the following directories to load/write PSX backups:

· /dev_hdd0/PSXISO
· /dev_usbXXX/PSXISO

Allowed format are:

· Iso (mode 2/2352).
· Cue+bin. Data track must be mode 2/2352.

This might help. Updating your cfw might also help and of course multiman should also be updated.

If it doesn't then, no dice.

For me, it seems I can only use games in the .bin/.cue format.
dev_hdd0/psxiso/gamename/gamename.bin
dev_hdd0/psxiso/gamename/gamename.cue

And it's really difficult to find games in that format. I own the games, but my ps3's disc drive is broken, and my laptop doesnt even have a disc drive, so I look for the games online. I mostly find them in just .bin, or .bin.ecm, or the kind with many track.bin files and a .cue file, and occasionally .bin and .cue. I can't find them in the .iso format. Is there anything else that will work and also, what should the file names look like?

the .cue is just a descriptor file that tells software what order each track (.bin) file is in, you can make your own if you find the games with just the .bin, probably they don't have audio tracks then and only one data track.
