Thanks to Nintendo Everything, it's now known massively that the Mayflash GameCube adapter is compatible with Nintendo Switch and therefore with its games. As per Nintendo Everything, it works with Breath of the Wild but you're better off using it on games less demanding like Puyo Puyo Tetris and mind you, only one out of the four ports works so far.

Nintendo’s official GameCube adapter doesn’t work with Switch, but Mayflash’s offering does. Updating the controller’s firmware to the version that supports Pokken Tournament will allow you to use it with the system.
Note that the adapter only supports one controller. While you can plug in all four, they’ll all work as the same player. Some games also work better than others. It’s not really a good fit with Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but something like Puyo Puyo Tetris seems to work better. Basically it’s acting like a Pokken Tournament controller.

i think I have that one? how do i upgrade the firmware?
Think it works with 3xx OFW. Have to check if my Switch has auto-updated as the Pokkén controller apparently works as well (this is what's based on, as it seems).

or would the switch game need to support it first ?
if it works with every game, then i will get that mayflash adapter

The Mayflash GameCube adapter works similarly to the Pokkén controller so here's what I can tell you from my experiences.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Perfect
Disgaea 5 Complete - Perfect
Puyo Puyo Tetris - Perfect
Breath of the Wild - Unplayable (may work a bit better with the GameCube controller)

I assume that Binding of Isaac, Cave Story, Master Blaster Zero, Spelunker World, etc all work properly as well since they are semi-retro games. I honestly am not pondering to purchasing the Mayflash GameCube adapter just to use a GameCube controller on the Switch but on the other hand, I really am interested and how awesome is it to play Switch games with the GameCube? Mind blown!

Tell you what, I'll buy the adapter and then when it arrives I'll let you know unless someone wants to help out confirming which games are playable and so on. ;)

so i currently only own a NGC controller which is from Promate.
and it feels great in the hands, and i would like to know whether i will be able to hook that up with that mayflash adapter and play smash on wii u ?
will it work ?

the promate ngc controller i have has some auto/fast mode button, it is not an official ngc controller, but a better one.

Yes, it works with any GameCube controller whether first or third party. I don't own any third party GameCube controllers because the ones I've come across where pretty much garbage or overpriced, to the point it was just better to buy an official one.

Mayflash adapter works on Switch/WiiU/PC but the Nintendo adapter is reported to only work on WiiU/PC.

Ah, when using the Mayflash adapter on the Switch it needs to be on PC Mode.

i think i will get it then !
because i get to use it for my switch too.
I've just ordered a Mayflash GameCube adapter so it should arrive within the next few days. Binding of Isaac with the GameCube/Pokkén controller will be a lot of fun. :)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the GameCube controller? I can't imagine how pleased I'll be. ^_^

That's strange that it works with that adapter, but what about the official adapter that released alongside Smash 4?
It works because the Mayflash adapter has a PC Mode switch whereas the official only has the standard WiiU Mode.

Edit: I'm expecting a price hike of the Mayflash adapters due to this.

Bah, you can connect the official one through the PC with a driver and particular software. Perhaps with Switch hacking going on, a similar thing can be done.

The good thing is that with the Mayflash no hacking is required. :)

i bet !

i think i will order one tomorrow or so !
i do not know if i will regret it though, because i am too spoiled nowadays with wireless controllers.

i remember hooking up my ps4 controller with the usb method (nintendont) and it feels so strange to me to play with a cabled controller now T_T
same goes when i play ps2 ( i still own one, a slim and i love it).

hmm, the only thing that really bothers me with the cable controllers is the frikkin lenght..

i love sitting far away from the TV ( i have a 55" tv and it is HUGE) so sitting far away from it is the best choice.
and my ps2 controller cable is so SHORT.

and for the DS4 nintendont method i use multiple extension cables to make it very long =_=

*sigh* BUT i think Mayflash might just be what i NEED !!

because i am sure it will work with nintendont as well wooh!

The Smash GameCube controllers have a pretty long cable length but even those have become rather pricey. I don't know why the prices have increased all of the sudden since Nintendo didn't announce anything.
The time to sell those brand new White NGC Controllers is nigh... :P

I'd love to see streaming from 3DS to switch, that'll be awesome!
I sorta regret not buying the white Smash controller when it was cheap. Oh well, have four (2x Smash black, 1x GC black, 1x GC orange).
