Hey, I haven't used my 3DS XL for a while now, but I wanted to try out the miitopia demo so I decided to update. I think this update soft bricked my 3DS. If anyone could give me some help, I'd appreciate it.

I've tried the recovery mode, and here's what happens:

Recovery Mode launches successfully, attempts to update, says the system is already up to date, and turns back off. Once it does, when I turn it back on the problem persists.

I do think I have sysNAND backups and such. It's been a while though, if I have to do something on the SD card I request that you give me a tutorial link possibly.

I updated the system itself, not any homebrew app.
The version of Luma you are using is probably incompatible with 11.4.
The best thing for you to do is just fully upgrade your home brew like I suggested above.
Alternatively, You could upgrade Luma to a version between 7.0 and 7.0.5.

Okay, I'm willing to try that. However, I can't even turn on my 3DS. Can this be done just through the SD card?
Sorry, in my absence I've kind of forgotten most of this stuff.

You could try upgrading Luma as suggested by Lacius first.
That would be the easiest thing to do atm.

What happens when you hold start while powering on the device?

Oh, hey, it immediately goes to a homebrew menu. I'll type the menu out for you guys.

XORpad Gen Options
Titlekey Options
Sysnand Options
Emunand Options
Game Decryptor Options
Maintenance Options

A: choose
Select: Unmount SD
Start: Reboot

I'd also like to say that at this point, I wouldn't be against restoring my 3ds to factory settings. What I wanted to mod on homebrew currently isn't possible, so I lost interest in homebrew and wouldn't mind tossing it from the system.

And what happens when you replace the arm9loaderhax.bin like I suggested above?

There's three different options, regular, forced, and keep a9lh. It does say it could be "dangerous" so it kind of dissuades me from doing it since I don't know much about it.
If you decide to restore a sysNAND backup, which might be premature, you will want to select the option to "keep A9LH."
