wanted to know will homebrew be on the new 2dsxl just wanted to know as i have bought dirt cheap games eg monster hunter 3 ultimate used in good condition cib for $15.11nzd including shipping cost to nz (game sells over here used for like $45nzd) from sites like jjgames ebay ect that are usa region and would love to play them on my new 2ds xl

i don't want cfw just homebrew to get around region locks but using hombrew if i go online can i get banned?

Homebrew is on the New 2DS XL and it's the exact same as homebrew for every single other 3DS console. If you do go online, you might get banned but you might not. It's a gamble. I've been going online at least once a week and I haven't been banned so it's just random from my experience.

how would we know when nobody has it, tf -.-
Because it's just a New 3DS xl without 3D.
The differences are purely cosmetic.

it could come along with a new system update across all systems, you and I don't know what system version it'll be on till it releases or somehow someone gets it early

That's true but surely exploits will eventually be released to combat the stock system version the systems come on and allow homebrew. I know someone who somehow got one and it doesn't have a new version (although that's probably because it's not a retail copy of the system?).

Consoles have about a 2.5-3 month manufacturing lead time so the worst it could have is something based around 11.4 security which means hb is possible.
We already know it has the same bootroms as all other 3ds's and thus is vulnerable to ntrboothax.

Says who? I'm sure they implemented SOMETHING to combat A9LH/B9S. It will probably come with 11.5.0/12.0.0 preinstalled which most likely kills any Homebrew exploits not patched by 11.4.0.

like I'm saying that perhaps they have a new system version on it already and they are holding off till its launch to be there so less time for people to look into that system version voiding possible day 1 homebrew

ahem, i know it can run homebrew
you have a new 2ds already?

Even if the existing exploits HAVE been patched, there will be news ones eventually. But right now hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I know this sounds like the "hey my dad works at Nintendo guys am I cool" thing but I know someone who somehow got their hands on a non-retail copy of the system (Maybe it's a review copy because I know Nintendo Life got a review copy of the system). They tested the system and exploits can be put on it just fine. The only bump I can see is a new update being released for the New 2DS when it comes out but even then I bet people will eventually find a way to get around it.
